Did they not used to play a Striker as the '1'?
On rare occasions its been Robinho when they want to be offensive (couple times Cassano when subbed in late for attacking power) or when Seedorf/Boateng been injured, but generally is either Boateng Seedorf in the hole. Thats why Milan fans was looking for a Mr X all summer, an AM to be signed to take over that role, after they couldnt get Ganso. But they have settled with going with what they got plus Aquilani and Nocerino.

Allegri dropped Leonardo's 3 man attack idea pretty quick in his tenure, after he realized Milan midfield cant cope with that.

Its good for us they havent gotten an AM, Boateng is all around very good and dynamic midfielder, and Seedorf can bring brilliance when he wants to and can remain fit for, but generally their midfield creativity is an achilles heel. Sadly for us, their attack is so great it matters fuck all mostly (Ibra and Cassano super creative, while Robinho and Pato are really mobiel). In Serie A atleast, in CL it does alot, they got closed down by Tottenham because their pedestrian midfield couldnt create much.
