Milan meet with Sheikh

Milan yesterday played host to Sheikh Al Maktoum, the son of the Emir of Dubai, but talk of a takeover is premature, according to Il Corriere della Sera.

Al Maktoum is reportedly interested in sponsoring Milan, as the Rossoneri's current £10m deal with Bwin expires at the end of next season.

If an agreement is reached, Milan, like Arsenal and Hamburg, will be seen wearing the Fly Emirates logo on their shirts.

According to Il Corriere della Sera, Al Maktoum is willing to pay the Rossoneri a lucrative £20m for a four-year sponsorship deal with the option of a fifth written into the terms of the contract.

The Italian Press believe the deal will not stop there, though, with Al Maktoum reportedly ready to become a major shareholder in the club.

Milan are in desperate need of new capital and - on top of limiting their transfer spending this summer - will try to enforce a salary cap, bringing wages down 30 per cent.

Honorary President Silvio Berlusconi can no longer be seen spending large amounts of money on Milan in his position as Italy Prime Minister.

I saw an interesting discussion on another forum.

Kaka played on 26 matches in serie A this year and Milan lost only 1 of these 26 matches.
Kaka didn't play on 7 matches and Milan lost 5 of these 7 matches.

Do you guys think Milan would have led the table now if they had Kaka on those 7 matches?

On the other hand, one can ask a similar question about Juve and Sissoko. When we played without Momo we won only 3 of the 11 matches.
We have 16-3-3 with him and 3-5-3 without him. We conceded 15 goals on the 22 matches when Sissoko played and we conceded 17 goals on the 11 matches where he didn't play.

What do you think?
Please discuss

Now with a more serious reply. I think that not only Sissoko but also Amauri played a major role. Regardless of the fact that Amauri's last games were dry but still he added a huge work rate to the upper half of the team.

I felt that Sissoko and Amauri got injured in the most important chapter of the season. Imagine having them both available along with the others returning from injuries. Trezeguet, Buffon et. al.

Completely true...Amauri absence was badly felt...but Sissoko's was huge blow.

Not having Sissoko fucks up our whole system. Without his pressing in midfield our high defensive line is horribly vulnerable to balls over the top.

How many of Milan's penalties have been for 'fouls' on Kaka?

Yes, important players make a major difference. Inter had big luck with their main players and they're leading the standings now. But one look at the matches where they were missing only one of Julio Cesar, Maicon, Cambiasso and Zlatan says a lot.

Julio Cesar missed only 1 match and Inter drew 2:2. Maicon missed 5 matches and Inter won only 1 of them. Cambiasso missed 4 matches and Inter won only 2 of them. Zlatan missed only 2 matches and Inter won 1 of them.
And only on that match against Palermo they were missing more than 1 of their important players (they were without JC and Maicon), and they drew 2:2.

Inter's best players were available on 99% of the matches and that does make a difference.

I don't want to say that we have a better team, or equally good, than Inter when we're at full strenght, but it is true that Inter were luckier than Milan and Juve with the injuries of the important players.

What about distance covered? In the CL they always measure players individual distance covered and the team's overall distance covered; with Momo missing we loose that extra distance that would be a block or a last ditch tackle, not to mention closing down players.

What i have been saying all along, that our defense sucks and Sissoko masks this problem...

Looking at their schedule, it will be tough to expect that.

H- Lazio
A- Chievo
H - Siena
A - Cagliari
H- Atalanta

Lazio are their regular victim and they will now concentrate on Coppa Italia. Chievo, Siena and Atalanta don't need any points at all, and only Cagliari might need the points if by the 37th round they still fight for the 6th place that leads to UEFA Cup.

Unless everything is known 3 rounds before the end, i can't see them lose 7pts.

Maybe they will if they play like Juventus for the past month.
