Because I don't want to hear, "This team will be mature by next season and then we will start winning things," for the next 5 years, while he replaces his young players with younger players every season and we become the new, old inter, almost winners.

well the previous generation he created dried up, and the one he was trying to make deserted him...but you can't deny that the guy is a top class manager

Hehe, lets not overrate Italy even they traditionally produce tactically astute coaches. Wenger can defenitely coach here, one of the better coaches in the game.

Would be amazing to hire him. The only issue is, IF was available and wanted to come, that he is a quite old coach and perhaps wouldnt be around long to coach us.

he's only 2 years older than Ranieri
But hiring Wenger would really involve committing to a project to get the team playing his way and get the players he would want.

You would need to give him five years, probably, and I'm not sure Wenger has the drive to start another new project.

Other coaches wouldn't change so much, so it wouldn't take as long to make the transition.

Dont get me wrong, I would still sign him in a heart beat. Just saying we wouldnt be fortunate enough to have him around for so long. Unless he goes for the Bryan Robson approach of coaching til his 70s.

yea, good point...but I don't think there is any doubt that he is a fantastic manager

Dont care about Ranieri's age because I dont want him around after this season, let alone be such a long term choice that one would worry about his age.

But with Wenger, he is one of the few really great coaches in the game, so if you get one of that quality, you hold onto him as long as possible. And yeah, then his age becomes an important factor for the long run.
