Napoli midfield ace Marek Hamsik was mugged close to the Stadio San Paolo this afternoon.

The Slovak sensation was in his car when he was approached by two men with helmets on scooters.

One of the men broke the window of Hamsik's car with the butt of a gun and threatened him with the weapon.

The men stole the former Brescia man's watch and a bag containing around £650.

Hamsik, who was reportedly visibly shaken by the ordeal, had been on a shopping trip after training but his afternoon ended in a trip to the police station to report the crime.

The mugging comes just weeks after Napoli striker Andrea Russotto was attacked in the city late at night.
