Ok, we all read what did Milan's doctor say in the morning. Now see what he said later in the day :

“There really and truly is no alarm regarding Kaka,” said Meersseman.
“For now he just has to do some precise exercises with his knee. We will now have to plan his recovery as per usual when the new season begins.
He will need just a little time to recover fully.”

:lol2:
I wonder why did he retract the previous statement. You think he heard from Galliani in the meantime ? ;)

Winning pitch?

I have been watching the Italian title contenders with interest over the last few weeks. One after another, they have come out and made their pitch with their Scudetto credentials. Each side has tried to get me to buy into their vision for the season ahead. More and more it has felt like an episode of Dragons’ Den.

Inter were first to make their play. “Listen,” they said. “We were the best last season, and we will be the best again this term. And we promise this time around we will deliver in Europe too. We have hired Jose Mourinho as our director of operations. If anyone can bring the Champions League back after four decades away it is him.”

But I’m sorry, boys, I don’t buy it. You will let us down again in Europe this year. I’m out.

“You want tradition and class,” insisted Juventus. “We’ve learned our lessons from Calciopoli and are back better and stronger than ever. Look at our summer acquisitions policy – everything about it says we are up for the Scudetto this year. Nobody else has a better track record.”

That, of course, is true. Nonetheless, I still see some weaknesses in your plan. I can’t be part of it.

“We have rejuvenated our team and brought in one of the best trouble-shooters on the market,” countered Milan. “Our Coach will become the Italian version of Alex Ferguson and our overseas imports are without equal. You don’t really believe we will miss out on the title fight again do you?”

No, I agree, the Rossoneri will be in the mix this year. But you slipped too far behind last year and your new boys don’t convince me. Count me out.

Then Fiorentina sent their bidder reluctantly into the room. “We’re not really Scudetto contenders,” he insisted. “We are building a team for the future. There are other sides much bigger than us who we can’t compete with. We are just a start-up business.”

I find that lack of ambition a bit hard to believe. But you are right to play down the expectations – I think you will have your work cut out to finish in the top four again this year.

Finally, there was Roma. “Look,” they said. “We pushed Inter all the way last year and we have made only minor adjustments. We have put down solid foundations to build our challenge from. There are doubts about all our market rivals but we have a record that speaks for itself.”

I’m not entirely convinced, I admit, but the argument rings true. And I don’t like to send everyone away empty handed. So, Giallorossi, I’ll back your chances of taking the Scudetto this year. Now let me make you an offer…

So far, Udinese have not been able to trouble any decent opposition during their summer outings and that trend seems to be continuing.

Having already lost heavily to Athletic Bilbao, PAOK and played out a goalless draw with Gaziantepspor, Udinese's poor pre-season form continued as they were demoilished 4-1 by newly promoted Greek side Panserraikos.

Udinese reverted back to their usual 3-4-3 formation but rarely posed a threat and struggled to assert any influence throughout.

Panserraikos opened the scoring through a header by Tadic after a cross from Kalimanis. Tadic scored again from the penalty spot to make it 2-0 halfway through the first half.

Udinese coach Pasquale Marino tried to change the match around at half-time by making six substitutions, but matters would get no better for the Fruili side.

Floro Florese did mange to pull one back on a rare attack, after the striker was set up by Simone Pepe from D'Agostino's set-piece. However, the Greeks kept controlling the match and received another penalty which Georgiatis converted. Georgatis then sealed the match in the final minute on the counter-attack to make the scoreline a humiliating one for Udinese and dominant one for his own side.

It was not all bad news for the Italians though, as the good form of forward Floro Flores was confirmed. Another positive note came from the debut of newly acquired Serbian defender Nikola Vujadinovic.

It appears Udinese have lots of work to do if they want to be comeptitive in Serie A this year, while Panserraikos seem to be in good shape for the moment.

Tottenham-Roma 5:0, Chelsea-Milan 5:0 (neutral ground), Man City-Milan 1:0, Liverpool-Lazio 1:0...
On the other hand, Arsenal-Juve 0:1, Man Utd-Juve 0:0

Maybe we aren't as bad as most of you think.

i hope we do well in europe this year and for years to come, we were weak in europe last time we were there and i want us to win the CL, that would make me more happy than winning serie A this year.

and maybe Serie A is not as good as people overrate, without a doubt, English football is ruling these days, and specially over Serie A!

And sure I am not concluding these because of these friendlies..

You're 100% right about the strenght of both leagues. My comparisson was mostly between Juve and the other Italian teams, not between serie A and EPL.

These were friendlies so we can't really see the real strenght of Juve and the other Italians, but the friendlies aren't absolutely meaningless.
Juve always (at least in the last 10 years) had problems with the English teams but now we managed to win and draw away to the european champion and one of the top3 EPL teams (we kept 2 clean sheets in these matches), while Roma and Milan were destroyed by another top3 team and a team that didn't make it to top 4 in England since i know of myself.

This has to mean something.

I think it means Juve is taking these friendlies more seriously, sure they are not meaningless, only the scores are meaningless and that's my personal opinion, thou I wasn't at all satisfied about the performance against Arsenal.

Alen, I am sure if we faced Arsenal and Manchester this year, we will get beaten. Like you said it yourself, we always had problems facing them, and I don't think we are any stronger now with Ranieri than the last decade, and it's the opposite actually, they are much stronger now!
