Tough start with Viola and Udine but as a whole, no complaining here.

Imo the fixture list looks okay and definetly acceptable, and the toughest games will probably be played between 19.10-26.10, Napoli away has always been a hard fought battle, CL game (a positive result is needed in these early rounds of the group-stage) and the derby against Torino is never a easy game to get a positiv result from... if the outcome of these games is the best possible then the team truly will have the required results in the baggage and the necessary motivation to challenge for the scudetto.... but this is just my opinion

Milan have three top goalkeepers in their squad :shifty:

, but Adriano Galliani has clarified that Zeljko Kalac is first choice.

With Christian Abbiati's return from Atletico Madrid and Nelson Dida back to full fitness, there is a crush of shot-stoppers pushing for space.

“We have established a hierarchy of goalkeepers and Carlo Ancelotti drew it up,” revealed general manager Galliani.

“I think that at this stage we can say we're starting with Kalac, then Abbiati while we wait to evaluate Dida's condition, as he is undergoing a recovery programme.”

There were concerns over whether Alessandro Nesta would require surgery for a recurring injury, but that does not seem to be the case.

“Nesta has nothing serious. He does have this back problem and we have sent him to the top specialists, but they all said he does not need an operation. He should recover quickly.”

There are injury worries for Marco Borriello, who sprained his right knee during today's training session. More tests will be performed tomorrow to investigate the extent of the damage.

He made tons of errors in 2001 (or 2002, i don't remember) and that was the only reason why Milan called back Dida from loan.
Dida was great in the following seasons and Milan never trusted Abbiati ever since.

Milan fans still hold the image of the mistake prone Abbiati and maybe that's the same case with Ancelotti and Milan's board

I didn't follow Abbiati in Spain, but if he was as good as the Abbiati we know from Juve, then he's Milan's best choice atm, by far.

I can't understand Milan's faith in Kalac, sure he's safe to a degree but he's average at best which probably outweights the threat of Dida's constant slip ups, why they dont put Abbiati as first choice or just buy a new GK is bewildering..

Curiosuly enough, I saw Kalac speak on Australian TV & when asked about Milans transfer needs he said " No disrespect to our fowards but Milan are lacking in this department and because of this we suffered last year" or something like that, I thought it was a bit rich to say that you neeed new strikers when first of all you have the three stooges as Goalkeepers.

The Rossoneri were taking part in the annual three-way competition in Turin with Juventus and Inter when Ancelotti reacted angrily to verbal abuse from sections of the home crowd by raising his middle finger.

This obscene gesture could put Ancelotti in trouble with the footballing authorities, and he has already moved to apologise for his actions.

“Yes I did raise my little finger and it was my response to the ignorant people,” explained Carletto, who coached Juventus from 1999 to 2001.

“With hindsight I think that I would do the same thing. There’s no need to look for video evidence because I’m not scared to admit what I did.

Goalkeeper Abbiati was the hero of the shoot-out win against Inter, saving three spot-kicks, as well as making a wonder-stop from Olivier Dacourt during normal time.
