Kaka is FIFA nominee
Friday 12 December, 2008
Milan star Kaka is one of five remaining contenders for the FIFA World Player of the Year award for 2008.
The Brazilian scooped the prize last term, adding it to the Ballon d'Or and FIFPro award.
But Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo is the favourite to triumph this time around.
The Portuguese superstar has already won the 2008 Ballon d'Or for his efforts on the domestic and European stage last year.
Barcelona hitman Lionel Messi, Liverpool striker Fernando Torres and Spanish international midfielder Xavi are the other contenders.
The award will be presented on January 12 along with the FIFA Presidential Award and the FIFA Fair Play Award.
The candidates were voted for by the Coaches and captains of men's and women's national teams from all over the world.

Here is a nice joke.
Kaka one of the best 5 players of 2008!!!!!
Lets see.... he was better than Ribery who was and still is brilliant for Bayern, a team that actually won a championship and is doing great in CL.
He was better than Gerrard and Lampard, who both had a great 2008.
Or was he better than Ibrahimovic?
It's easy to make a comparisson between Kaka and Ibrahimovic. They both played bad in CL in 2008 and Kaka isn't even playing much in UEFA Cup.
Zlatan almost single-handedly brought a scudetto to his team while Kaka played good enough to lead his team to #5 in serie A.
Zlatan is playing great in serie A this season, while the best thing Kaka did this season is consistently diving to get a penalty.
Kaka didn't show anything with Brazil, while Zlatan was ok at the EURO.
Or how about a Del Piero-Kaka comparisson?
Del Piero beats Kaka in everything (in 2008).
Rio Ferdinand, Adebayor and at least 5 other players had much better season than Kaka.
