Some interesting stats regarding Pirlo and Gattuso in serie A.

When Pirlo played Milan's record is 0-1-3 and when Pirlo didn't play Milan's record is 9-2-0.

On the other side, when Gattuso played Milan's record is 8-3-0 and when he didn't play Milan made 1-0-3

In other words, Pirlo played on only 4 matches and Milan lost 3 of them, drawing the other one. On the 11 matches where Pirlo didn't play Milan are undefeated and won 9 out of 11.

Gattuso didn't play only on 4 matches and Milan lost 3 of them. When he played, Milan were undefeated and won 8 out of 11.

I'm saying this because Gattuso won't play against us while Pirlo will almost certainly play.

Looks promising, he? :D

nice jinx!

You can say that but pessimists can say that they'll finally win a couple with Pirlo. Stats are just stats.
True but in this case i think it's more than stats. It means that the whole system is changed.
As you can see, when Pirlo played Gattuso didn't play. It means that Pirlo took Gattuso's place in midfield and vice-versa.
Since they are very different kind of players, it's obvious that it affected the way Milan plays and it's even more obvious that Milan depend mostly on Gattuso and how he protects their weak defense. Without Gattuso's dominance, and especially when he's replaced by a player who doesn't defend, Milan lose the midfield and they're vulnerable.

Another player who, according to most Milan fans, had a lot to do with their good results in October and November, is Borriello.
He moved a lot, he always took two defenders on him and he opened up spaces for Kaka and Ronaldinho. Pato also moves a lot but he's not a dominant type of striker than can beat defenses on force, the way Borriello did it, or the way Amauri does it for us.
Borriello also played in most of the matches Milan won and he didn't play on those matches when they lost.

True. Pirlo is not the same player after the WC but I don't put much importance in stats when we're concerned because I'm afraid these players play the match of their lives against Juve.

Sure who wouldn't be scared of Ambrosini when they only have Kaka Ronaldinho and Pirlo in that midfield :pumpkin:
ambrosini is more useful than pirlo is currently he has this horrible tendancy to play well in big games for milan, kaka and ronaldinho will be sussed out. momo is gona think he's back on the school play ground again with the ammount of tackling fun hes gona have

I agree that Ambrosini is better than many people round here think.

However, have you not noticed that it is a foul if any player goes with 4 yards of Kaka? It makes it pretty tough to stop him.

We just have to pray that the referee will be reasonably fair.

Quaresma gets the Bin
Monday 8 December, 2008
Inter flop Ricardo Quaresma has taken over from Adriano as the holder of the dreaded Bidone d'Oro - Golden Bin - award.

The title is awarded each year to the player who has been the biggest let-down of the season so far.

The 'prize' is voted for by listeners on Rai Radio 2 and has been going for six years.

Adriano received the most votes for the last two editions, but Quaresma is this year's victim after an underwhelming start to life in Italy.

Quaresma received 17 per cent of the vote and beat former winner Christian Vieri by seven per cent.

Adriano was third, followed by a trio of Milan players - Ronaldo, Nelson Dida and Andriy Shevchenko.

Simone Loria of Roma was seventh, ex-Inter man Alvaro Recoba was eighth, Juventus outcast Tiago Mendes ninth and Cagliari failure Joaquin Larrivey made up the top 10.

what ronaldo is doing there? he had an injury, came back, scored few goals, got an injury and hadnt been playing since that. hell, you can`t blame guy for being injured, otherwise Andrade would take the first place with ease.
