Rocchi Goal Offside - Mancini
Inter coach Roberto Mancini talked about the 1-1 draw against Lazio, claiming Tommaso Rocchi's equaliser was offside.
Inter coach Roberto Mancini talked exclusively to SKY following his side's 1-1 draw away to Lazio tonight, which keeps the title race wide open.
Asked about the many missed passes by his side tonight, he said: "[Esteban] Cambiassso gives us more geometries in front of the defence. In the first half we missed a lot of passes and we were in difficulty. However, when we came forward we often came close to scoring.
"We had a few chances in the first half after taking the lead, perhaps with a bit more care we could have made it 2-0 and end the game with more calmly. We started the game well, but Lazio are in a terrific period of form and they are causing teams problems."
On Tommaso Rocchi's goal, Mancini said: "I think it was slightly offside, [David] Suazo also found himself in a similar position but the linesman immediately raised his flag. Clearly it was a close thing, but it's already the second time they are making mistakes and it cost us two goals [following Mauro Camoranesi's goal for Juve last week]."
Asked if he was satisfied with the result, the coach answered: "A victory would have been better, it would have given us more security. We still have a four point lead and there are less and less games to play. We can recover in these next few days and work more calmly. I think this and the next week will be crucial."
On the team's morale, he said: "The most important thing is to be able to work calmly in these next few weeks. We are calm."
Mancini concluded by reacting to Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti, who had commented on Inter's coaching situation: "I have cleared things out with the club, there's no problem, absolutely. We only have to remain focused on this league season."
