I think Alen was correct in saying that Italians will never become anything like the Germans in this day and age. Italians have a system where it's okay to allow representatives from the three major clubs sit down with the FIGC referee designator and discuss the schedule, so they are used to it. And as you know, it takes a lot for people to change. Perhaps something like WWII, as seen with the German people.

The best we can hope for is better officiating and less controversy, along with less corruption which seems to be a mainstay in the Serie A. But no matter what happens there will always be something wrong with Calcio, truthfully or not.
There are two things which I find odd:

1. The standard of officiating has dropped ever since Calciopoli. This is not normal. You'd expect the opposite.

2. There is one team in particular that benefits: Inter. Again, not a normal evolution.

You know, I can understand why someone would want to be a Liverpool fan. I see the point in supporting Milan. Bayern have their good runs from time to time and it must be lovely to cheer for Arsenal.

But I don't understand why someone would be an Inter fan. That just doesn't make any sense. At any level.

Too true. Although I could see why a South American would root for Inter. It's basically his/her side.

A couple months ago I would say hey, perhaps it's just terrible refereeing. But after seeing the first two matchdays of the new year, I really don't know what to believe anymore. The shit I've seen just fails to make sense.

The anger I feel right now is something I haven't experienced in quite a long time; a different sort of anger that is controlled and not reckless, but still ever present. Perhaps the heart and the brain are finally starting to bridge the gap and trying to form a consensus, as something just looks wrong. The refereeing cannot be THIS poor in any nation.

It's a shame there isn't another very strong team to put presure on Inter the way Milan did that to us in 2005 and 2006.

That way everything will be much more obvious. People don't pay too much attention to ref mistakes if Inter already leads by 10 points or so. But if it's a very close race then everyone will follow every single step of the refs and look for mistakes. That's what Italians do all the time actually, but they'll make the real drama only if the ref "mistakes" happen all the time in favor of one team, during a close race for the scudetto

Something like season 2004/05. There was never as much dust and as many debates on TV as in 2004/05.
And if you think about it, that was the exact season that got as relegated.

The refereeing in my high school was better than this, and believe me, we had a bunch of hick fools farting around the pitch with their nonsense. Refereeing in Italy cannot be any worse.

The referee gave corner kick after Couto cleared the ball from the line. I just saw that on TV.

Then Cambiasso and two more Inter players run towards the ref saying it was a handball and the ref changes his decission.
I couldn't see what the linesman said and i don't know if it was the linesman or Cambiasso that changed ref's decission.

But if you are Argentinian it would make perfect sense ,it's like watching your National team, every week.
