Chelsea plot Kaka megabid

There are reports that Chelsea are lining up a sensational bumper bid for Milan’s Brazilian ace Kaka.

The 25-year-old midfield wizard has heightened speculation over his future by admitting in recent weeks that he would like to play in Spain or England at some stage.

While the ex-Sao Paulo man insists that he is happy at the San Siro at present, The Daily Express claims that new Chelsea boss Avram Grant is desperate to lure him.

The Diavolo have rebuffed numerous approaches from Real Madrid for the Ballon d’Or award favourite, but The Daily Express claims a bid of £100m is a possibility.

“Kaka is certainly a long-term target and if there is any chance of getting him then Grant will try and make it happen,” an inside source reportedly stated.

“Avram likes Kaka very much and has told Abramovich that he is a good investment, even at £100m.

“Of course all the wealthiest clubs in the world want Kaka, including Manchester United and Real Madrid, but only Chelsea can really afford him.”

While there is no way to verify the veracity of The Daily Express’ claims, it is unlikely that Milan could refuse a bid of £100m even for a player of Kaka’s importance.

Ibrahimovic Indifferent To Juve Boo-Boys

Inter striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic says he is unconcerned by the prospect of Juventus supporters whistling at him during the upcoming clash against his former club.

The Swedish superstar joined the Bianconeri in 2004 from Ajax and under the stewardship of Coach Fabio Capello, soon developed into one of the best strikers in Serie A.

However after the Calciopoli scandal in 2006, Ibra left La Vecchia Signora to join arch-rivals Inter. The move angered many Juventus fans who saw Ibrahimovic as a traitor.

On November 4, Ibrahimovic will face his ex-team-mates for the first time since his departure as the Nerazzurri make the trip to the Stadio Olimpico in Turin.

“For me Juventus against Inter is not a particularly special game,” Ibra said.

“I am an Inter player now and if the Juventus fans should decide to whistle at me it would actually please me.”

Ibracadabra has made a stunning start to the new season and is currently joint top-scorer in Serie A with seven goals in as many games. Despite this form, the 26-year-old amazingly failed to make the shortlist for the 2007 FIFA World Player of the Year award.

Totti doping case dropped

Italian FA's website featured a statement saying that its Federal Court of Justice had agreed to archive the case after a request from the Italian Olympic Committee's anti-doping unit.

It gave no details of the possible offence committed by Totti but Italy's ANSA news service said the 31-year-old had been late for a routine doping test on May 13th.

It is understood, however, that the reason for his tardiness was the birth of his second child, which occurred on the same day.

Anti-doping authorities were obliged to conduct preliminary investigations but were not compelled to release news of the offence publicly. If new evidence emerges, the case can be reopened, although this is unlikely given the circumstances. At no point in his career has Totti ever been implicated in the use of drugs.

A key player for Italy in their 2006 World Cup triumph before retiring from the national team afterwards, Rome-born Totti scored 26 Serie A goals for Roma last season and has continued the form into the current campaign.

Milan On The Lookout For New Goalkeeper

Despite reaffirming their trust in Dida, the Milan management are allegedly starting a search for a new goalkeeper.

Although Dida is still Milan's first choice goalkeeper, with Zeljko Kalac the man who will replace him in the next two Champions League matches if Milan's appeal to Uefa turns out to be unsuccessful, it seems the club's trust in the Brazilian is growing thin. And they are allegedly already looking around for a replacement.

Currently their eye is on La Liga, in particular on Villarreal goalkeeper Diego Lopez, who was snapped up from Real Madrid last summer for 6 million euros. He is not the first choice at the moment, but has a good reputation as a reliable stand-in goalkeeper.

To gain more information about this player, Milan allegedly contacted Franco Tancredi, who was the goalkeeping coach at Fabio Capello's Real Madrid last season. The former Roma number one's report was very positive, also concerning the player's character.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old CSKA Moscow keeper Igor Akinfeev is another name being taken into consideration by the Milan management. Despite his young age, he already gained some international experience with the Russian national team, having even made two appearences during Euro 2004, when he was just 18. He is currently the first choice goalkeeper of Russia.

The upcoming Champions League ties between CSKA and Inter will be a good opportunity for Milan to have a closer look at this player.

Montolivo 'pens new deal'

The talented Riccardo Montolivo has signed a new contract with Fiorentina, according to reports in Italy.

A story in the 'Il Giornale della Toscana’ suggests that that an agreement has been reached after a series of talks.

The new deal, yet to be officially confirmed by the club, will run until June 2012 and is worth around £700,000 a term.

Montolivo’s previous contract didn’t expire until 2010, but the Tuscan giants were keen to keep admirers away from their starlet by rewarding him for his form over the last year.

It’s been some start to the month for the player seeing as his alleged new deal comes just days after his promotion to the full Italian squad.

The attacking midfielder has been hailed as a star of the future for some time and won his maiden call-up to the Azzurri squad on Sunday after some excellent showings so far this term.

The former Under-21 international, likened by some to Milan and Italy star Andrea Pirlo, has been plying his trade in Florence since his switch from Atalanta in August 2005.

Despite taking his time to settle, Montolivo has improved immensely under the tutorship of boss Cesare Prandelli and is now a regular in the tactician’s starting XI.

Born in Milan in January 1985, Montolivo is another successful graduate from the famed Atalanta youth system.
