Gaza: Residents waving white flags ’shot dead as they flee their homes’

Belfast Telegraph
January 14, 2009

Israeli forces said they had pushed deeper into Gaza City amid heavy fighting, with some units within a mile of the densely populated urban centre. Terrified residents were said to be fleeing from many homes which had been set alight.

At least three Palestinians in Gaza were shot dead yesterday after Israeli soldiers fired on a group of residents leaving their homes on orders from the military and waving white flags, according to testimony taken by the Israeli human rights group B’Tselem. The testimony was rejected by the military after what it said was a preliminary investigation.
The thrust by Israeli ground forces into Tel Hawwa was the furthest the Israelis had gone into Gaza City since military operations were launched on 27 December. Meanwhile, Israel’s Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, declared that he would press forward with an “iron fist”. While his government in Jerusalem is claiming that Hamas’s military capabilities have been severely damaged, its senior intelligence sources have revealed that only a “few hundred” of the movement’s 20,000 men have been killed, including several of its key leaders. The officials also stated that Hamas still had significant supplies of rockets left in their arsenal despite firing several hundred of them into Israel since military operations began.

The white flags were made by Hamas, so the IDF was right to shoot at them.

:gsol:
The situation over there looks so f*ed up I wouldn't be surprised if the civilians were women or children, nor if they were Hamas fighters looking for some blood. I mean, the stuff that is going on there is so sick at times, common sense of right and wrong just isn't applicable. Which is sad, as there are innocent people dying on both sides.

I'm not trying to do anything, it is a simple question. It should not offend you, I'm sure you eat and poop. I'm not disrespecting Islam, I just want to know if it teaches one how to do a simple bodily action like that, because I don't know.
If it is like that then its OK
But just forgive me for not answering you in English because you know my English is catastrophic so i will answer you in Arabic if you don't mind hoping for someone to translate it for you

Yes, because technically, there are no women and children in Gaza, just male civilians or terrorists.

:shifty:

nor if they were Hamas fighters looking for some blood.
Yes yes, I'm sure they were Hamas fighters trying to fool the soldiers into coming close so they could detonate their suicide bombs while screaming Allah Ahkbar.

Take it easy, Livni.

I probably didn't make myself clear enough. I said I would neither be surprised if the Israeli soldiers deliberately shot civilians willing to surrender, nor would I be surprised if it indeed was Hamas fighters trying to fool the Israelis. The situation there is completely beyond my imagination and understanding.

What the hell, IDF troops entered Gazan homes, destroyed stuff, and wrote on walls saying "Join the IDF, Hamas is bad, the IDF is good" in English. :wth: As if bulldozing homes isn't enough, they have to deface the ones left somewhat standing.

The IDF denies it was their troops who do such stuff.

I have a Q for Alen, only Alen pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Alen
lets say that the holocaust is real

Why the Nazists were so keen to kill them all, i mean killing 6 millions of them?
thats a big number indeed

what was the reason?

there must be one or 2 at least
Read Hitler's "Mein Kampf"

Here we go again
We r denying it becaue of that
If Jews are right about their Holocaust they are bitching of every single second
How could they do the same thing to Palestinians?
Because they don't know what is the meaning of being a father watching the corps of his own very belove daughter eaten by dogs for 4 days after she got killed deliberately ,no doubts, by Israeli sniper

They have not been through Holocaust in the way they are lying to the whole world

Simply they don't know how ugly and painful it is, and thats why we deny it and will keep it so
It's not the "Jews", it's the Zionists. Stop being racist, it's disgusting.

As a grandson of one of Armenians who suffered the tragedy before 100 years, you should have been more keen on thinking before voting in this thread. I made that sentence to tease you because you really annoyed me with your votes. Eddy knows how much I respect Armenians and knows well that I don't condone any tragedy happening to them, but when you vote like that, although you live in that region and should know better, is really something weird.

My point was that Ottomans were good for the Arabs. Better than the current Western regimes ruling us. I didn't mean they were better for the Armenians.
I understand where you're getting at. I would rather see an "Empire" like that similar to the Ottoman one ages ago. However, a more tolerant one than the Ottoman. One of my dreams, in all honesty, is seeing a united Arab Empire where all the Arab states are independent as one.

The Ruler ? Hassan Nasrallah :D
