Everyone tells me "just imagine that it was you in Ameneh's place, would you still be against retribution?" and I'd say but I'm not in her place and even if I was, I shouldn't have been allowed to punish the man based on my hurt feelings. This just wouldn't work.
It's easy to say these things when you're not in her shoes. Not that I disagree or agree with you but just saying.

It is distressing that people would actually agree with that retribution. If I were in her position I know for a fact that I would want to inflict the same, and worse, on him. But anger is what causes this kind of violence in the first place, and I would be glad of there being something or someone in the position of keeping me sane.

I dont care which century we live in,if this crime was done against someone i care about or me,i would want to torture and destroy the life of the person responsible.

I disagree with the iran govt publicly declaring the sentence, just take him outta prison and hand him over the the girl's family

A barbaric sentence suited for a barbaric society.
It's more like a barbaric sentence for a sentimental and outraged society.

Okay now, in this case, if you were to choose between retribution and a three year prison sentence for the man, what would you choose?

No it can't and that's the thing.

If I heard for such thing here I'd surely sustain.
If I hear it's 3 years of screwing around then I'd be totally neutral about it.
I don't think that's true. It's like capital punishment. It's supposed to prevent crimes by fear, but that doesn't work.

But it doesn't just stop after she blinds him. Who is to say he doesn't then kill her, or a friend or family member of his goes and hurts someone in her family as revenge? You are just breeding more anger and stupidity this way.

Well it would work for me, I know that.

If I were in his place I'd think like "erm... she's not worth of ruining my life". If it's 3 years sentence I'd rather think like "pff... what this bitch did will be worth it".

I'm not claiming to be a psycho but I know many people would think like that.

Either way, some people are too sick and they'd do it anyway but IMO in this case it just lowers the crime level as most of the people wouldn't be willing to scar themselves like that.
