Lupatelli had a no.10 few years ago, don't remember which team he was with though. Does that imply that he started as a striker?
Till the 1994-95 season (included) the numbers of the shirts weren't given to the players at the beginning of the season, but match by match. They went from 1 to 11 (for the starters) and they were given according to the role each player was going to have in that match.
1 is the keeper, 2 is the rightback, 3 is the leftback and so on.
If you go back to see some highlights of that season, you'll see that Ciro had the 2 :wink:
