Can someone explain how the whole thing works, and what the diference is between the intertoto and the intercontinental cup. also tell me where the word 'intertoto' comes from.

Intertoto is a competion is the competion that was formed not too long ago to enable "smaller counties" and clubs that finished outside uefa club position and it differs from intercontinental cup in that intercontinental as the name suggests is competiion between continents in most cases south american champs ad European champs
