2:1 FT

I watched only the 2nf half and i've seen a very weak Italy, especially in midfield. Montenegro has 3-4 extremely talented players and such a shame that the other 6-7 players are below average because if they were a bit better then Montenegro would've had a great chance to win the 2nd place in this group.

Italians wasting time again :lol2:
This is pathetic.

Its because we couldn't string 2 passes together tonight.

Pepe was pissing me off ALL night. If he wasn't giving the ball away, he was conceding fouls. He clearly isn't international class, yet it either shows that Lippi is becoming senile, or that Italy lack any depth and will have the reply on these average players.

I think Pepe is just a scapegoat in this case.
Granted, he's far from the required level of an azzurri attacker but losing the midfield and some questionable defending is not his fault.

I don't blame Lippi either, just like i didn't blame Donadoni. It's just the way things stand atm in Italian football. Your country lacks 23-27 yo quality players who would have taken the role of Totti, Nesta, Del Piero, Inzaghi etc.

Pepe = not good enough
Dossena = not good enough

Amauri has to go for Italy, Gila can't score unless he has to spin around and poke it in or if its a header

True. I only see Balotelli and Giovinco who stand a good chance of doing well at senior level. However, there aren't any guarentees about them. There aren't many to get excited about. Maybe Rossi, but what can you do when Lippi prefers Pepe?

Gilardino is doing a monster job, he's the last to blame for the poor displays. I blame the midfielders who can't gain control and they let Gilardino run all the time to get the ball, keep it for 3-4 sec. just so the others will finally realize that they need to run forward.

Marcello, i'll check your post but i think i follow serie A enough to know that Italy lacks champions. (younger than 29).
There are some extremely promising talents in the u21 but they're still way too young to bring Italy another WC or EC trophy.

When they were 20-25 guys like Del Piero, Pirlo, Gattuso, Zambrotta, Nesta, Inzaghi, Totti were beating everyone in Europe and they were winning CL's, playing EC final etc. These new boys are hardly known outside Italy, even though they are the same age Del Piero or Pirlo were when they were kicking the shit out of everyone.

Rossi must have been rested due to the injury, was injured few days ago.

And Pepe is ok, not bad, but not NT level. He wont be called up when Iaquinta is back.

Btw, i'm not talking about the u21 guys. I'm talking about the players born after 1979 and before 1985.

We're talking about 6 years and the best players Italy produced from these 6 generations are Cassano, De Rossi, Gilardino and Chiellini.
Way too little.

If you compare this with the players born between 1973-1979 you have Buffon, Zambrotta, Grosso, Materazzi, Cannavaro, Nesta, Gattuso, Totti, Inzaghi, Vieri, Del Piero, Pirlo, Toni etc.

You can see the difference by yourself.
