I don't think anyone here thinks that Ramos is the best defender out there. He is clearly a "good" defender, he has good pace, good technical ability, strong in the air (both defensive and offensive set-pieces), and he's good at distributing the ball.

When one looks at a player, you have to take everything he offers into account. And Ramos offers more to his team than 99% of CBs in Europe. He's world class because of it. If he was really some big liability, do you think Real wouldn't spend big to replace him? They clearly would have by now.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Real fans adore him. He's been their best defender in the last years. You can't really be that biased to not see that he has been an important figure for Real last year when they went to win the CL and even in the league.

Go perform suicide, you old fart.

He was fantastic for Spain as well, along with Casillas one of their better players of the tournament, right?

Error prone defender, useless in defensive tasks, liability. Now time for you to get off your mommy's computer and go to bed.

Bro, do you even watch Ramos? Or Chiellini for that matter?

Ramos is so much better with the ball, it's not even funny.
But they're very comparable in terms of defensive abilities, which was my point.

And look at how Chiellini is rated around here, compared to Ramos...

Nah, Ramos is a bit like Chiellini with added offensive threat.
As defenders, yes(aside from this year, Chiellini has been awful), but Ramos has much better pace, much better technical ability, and is a better ball distributor. Chiellini had, in the past, better positioning defensively, and very good physicality and an awareness of just how much physicality the refs are willing to allow. But Chiellini was one of the best CBs in the world a couple years ago. Now, he's a shadow of that self.

The Team of the Year is always a big joke anyways. At least Ramos is not on the level of including Luiz.

On the topic of actual CB quality though, Diego Godin must be ahead of Ramos.

Fair enough. But a big reason Chiellini gets so much shit is because he's been a mediocre defender and that's all he was good at. Ramos makes up for not defending like a monster.
