Yesterday’s international fixtures saw ten Juventus players involved with their respective international sides. The four games yielded two defeats, one draw and a single victory.

Italy slipped to defeat in their first encounter of the year. Cesare Prandelli’s side were overcome 1-0 in Genova by the United States. Six of the seven Bianconeri included in the squad featured at the Luigi Ferraris. Gigi Buffon, Andrea Barzagli and Andrea Pirlo played the entire game. Claudio Marchisio and Alessandro Matri were named in the starting eleven before being replaced in the second-half, while Giorgio Chiellini came on after the break. Leonardo Bonucci remained on the bench.

Switzerland also suffered a setback as a Lionel Messi hat-trick saw them soundly beaten at home. Stephan Lichtsteiner was included in the starting line-up and played almost an hour before being substituted.

Martin Caceres enjoyed the full ninety minutes in Uruguay’s 1-1 draw against Romania. Napoli’s Edinson Cavani put the hosts ahead after just two minutes played, but Bogdan Stancu levelled matters shortly after the interval.

Summer signing Mirko Vucinic was the only Juventus player on the winning side last night, coming on midway through the second-half as Stevan Jovetic’s double proved enough to see off Iceland.
