Over a year and a half has passed since the horrendous Tsunami of 2004. Yet the nation of Indonesia and other surrounding countries have still not installed any sort of advanced tsunami warning system despite millions and millions of dollars being pumped into their governmental funds. Where is the money going... what are they waiting for? How many tsunamis will it take for these officials to get anything done?

You know what.. We have lost one warning equipment in Bali. This equipment is like an antenna to detect earthquake and tsunami. No body knows where this equipment gone. Because of this lost, we can't detect this disaster and prevent so many victims.

The money is gone along with tsunami.

Corruption...Daaa! :)D actually I don't really know why its taken so long to utulize this money, but plenty of mark up of logistics I would guess)

A few months after the Aceh Tsunami, governments here still didn't do enough to make use of those aid funds...which includes those that havent been fully accepted.
Those countries that aided such as Japan, were even intending to take back some of that aid money for other disaster hit areas.
the government officials here is too slow coz they never work, every day they come in at 11 and leave at 2...thats a general secret..hush hush...(applies to mainly lower level officials)

I think the main help in Aceh mainly came directly from Europe, namely Germany, then Japan and the Netherlands.

-Ring of Fire-
Its really stupid really, even I know that an earthquake and tsunami is bound to happen...I mean the whole fault runs down from just to the west of Sumatra to the South of Java. All of a sudden the faults ruptured here first...if there is any city in more danger at the momment its Padang City on the Sumatra Island...
Anyways, systems should have long been installed, but more than that, Information should have been properly distributed...it took 15-30minutes for the tsunami to come after the initial earthquake....people on the beaches and near there must have felt it...coz I did! And Im wayy far from those areas.

I think it's not the tsunamis fault... the indonesians should just let the tsunamis have their own country, a country they stole from the tsunamis, and everything will be fine.

very very sad, hope this forces a change of plan and they protect this whole region with early warning systems so that there is a chance for these people to escape the devastating forces of nature that are unleashed by each killer wave

was it just me or did i feel a tremor?
aftershock? or another one?
I felt it too.
There is another earthquake (6.2 SR) in the edge of Java Island (196 kms from Jakarta). This earth quake potentially generate another tsunami.
Now jakarta is in dangerous situation.
Many predict that Jakarta will have a worst disaster than Aceh have got.
Please pray for us.
