Seriously? When I was a kid (and I mean like 4) my grandparents used to say "let's not talk about money in front of the children". That was then. I don't know what the norms are in Poland these days, the days of survaillence under communism are long gone. But in Norway it's no taboo, every year the IRS publishes the tax returns of all citizens, for two weeks they are available online and if you know the persons full name and town, you can check their income, from your paperboy to the prime minister. When I was working last year, I checked the income of all my colleagues for instance.
