Del Piero's season was no more the average, like Zlatan's would be if this was not his first in serie A. The playing time Zlatan had was ridiculous and anything less then 14 goals lets say and he would of been codemned a failure.

Well considering we won the Scudetto, I don't think any of our forwards "failed" us. But that's another story quite frankly and no, Ale did not fail us. That is obviously too harsh.

This most descive player thing is crap- how the hell is that measured? On how many 'winners' he scores? Well **** me, but an equaliser is just as important as a winner in many ways, so that statistic is absolute shite in my reckoning.

Sure it's a shit statistic except that it is indeed based on facts, and no half-arse striker becomes the "most decisive player in Serie A." Obviously that title is a bit unfair to the entire team that plays around Del Piero, and I have to explain it like I'm doing now to get my point across. You cannot look further into this statistic than saying Del Piero's goals were the deciding factor in many of the matches we won, and without those goals we might have been worse off. Anything apart from that, as in saying Del Piero had a great season just because of that fact, is complete bullshit. Even though it might be a crap stat it still was important for Juve's success.

Nicole also has the right to 'bash' any players she wants, as im sure you have 'bashed' Keane and Totti in the past but Nicole has remained dignified and not gone spazzo about it. This thankfully isnt a Juventus only forum, and Nicole as a member of this place has the right to critise or praise any player or person she wants from Juventus.

Decisive? Can you explain what your meaning of that is? In terms of football, decisive in my opinion is what you'd call a playmaker, a decisive move that lead to a goal for example.

Ok before I start i dont know how to seperate quotes so ill just post paragraph to paragraph

Yes, it was a poor example, there is no doubt beckham has been worse then DP, but Nicole has used a big name who is overated to show how Del piero is overated... if you get what i mean.


Alex had a very average season. Highlights were the assist against Milan, lowlights being quite alot more. Del Piero got to start every game with us, but was it a surprise he was pulled off? No, despite claims that Capello hates Del Piero, Del Piero was pulled off because he was not playing well, which ultimately benefitted him as he picked up his game in the final third of the season. Before then, he was admittedly poor. So lets not judge Del Piero on the last 3rd but the season as a whole.


The desicive player title is too ambigous, as one must ask yourself: what is desicive? If del piero hits the ball for a tap in after Camorensi passes the ball to him after dribbling out 3 defenders, who is more desicive? Then again, it would work both ways when DP did the assist to Trezugeut- DP had more to do in that goal then he did. All im saying is the desicive player statisitic isnt actually that big of a feat- all it means is that his goals were more winners then equalisers, or that he had the pleasure of opening the scoring instead of doubling it. Yes, its hard to deny he was a part of the Juventus sucess this season as his 14 (in serie a?) surely helped, but this was not a great season. If this was a great season, my, the standards have surely dropped as I would think Lucarelli, Gilardino, Pizzaro and Cannavaro had a 'great' season.

As a Romanista I’ve never had any love for the Bianconeri. You’d expect me to hate their captain Del Piero as well, but you’d be wrong as I used to like Del Piero very much. However I feel that it’s time that Del Piero, Juventus and the Azzurri moved on.
Amazingly a lot of Juve fans still believe he is one of the best in the world, when in actual reality he hasn’t been in the top 50 for the last 7 years. Those who argue that he is still as good as he was, are disrespecting how good he used to be. He was once heralded as the true heir of Roberto Baggio, but that title, along with the No.10 shirt, belongs to Francesco Totti.

So what now for the player who has been at Juventus for 12 years? People will say he can still do it. Yes he scored 16 goals this season, 14 in Serie A, and 10 goals from open play. However is that really the return of a great striker at a top club? With Zlatan, Mutu and Trezeguet, that alone leaves 3 strikers who are better than him, if you believe the reports (and I am hoping they are false) that Juventus do buy Antonio Cassano, where does that leave Del Piero now?

Does he really want to be considered the same as Zalayeta has been? "Our fifth choice striker"? It gives me no pleasure saying this but like a badly wounded animal it is time for him to be put to rest, as a fan of Serie A I’d prefer to remember him as the player he once was, not this mediocre sub-standard version.

I hope he can do what he has done through-out much of his career, show that grace he became famous for and let the new generation move in.
