Well, from that vanity fair article we can sort a few points.

First of all, it seems Del Piero is hesitating to stay, even if he would love to do so. The reason is simple, he is not accustomed to be the benchwarmer of no one and he feels he still have some good football and can still be sueful for the team, but at the same time he knows that even when he is still "the great del piero" he is fully aware that time goes on and also changes are inevitable.

IMO, he is fully aware that conte and agnelli are looking to a future without him, but still i think this is something that hurts everyone involved, because im pretty sure deep inside no one on their right mind would like Ale to go.... but at the same time we have to face the fact that he is not getting younger. What makes this situation difficult is that we all have witnessed that his class is still intact.... but at the same time is kind of counter productive to overuse him instead of looking for substitutes, because, using del piero and relying on him is like an illussion, something that will not last long, and when it is finally over, we will find ourselves in a worst scenario.
This is looking it from a very objective point of view

All this being said, still there is the sentimental side of the equation, the part where we are dealing with one of a kind legend in the club, and a loved figure for everything that is related to Juventus. I kind of undertand him, and it must be super difficult to deal with this.

What do? Insist on keep playing for the fans but at the expense of your own playing time and your own satisfaction maybe?, or go on and try new things for the sake of the club, but leaving behind your beloved home, fans and everything behind?.

@Hydde they did not even give him a clear opportunity to prove himself this season...retarded bastards like Borriello starting ahead of him?

its a disgrace, and makes me ashamed of being a Juve supporter.

A contract must have been offered, then the player can decide whether to stay and accept a bench role (and fight for more playing time as he's said himself in the same interview) or leave for a new adventure. As simple as that. Nothing else matters.

Ale is so classy with that interview ....

the issue here is not whether he stays or goes it's whether IF he gets to leave, he does it in his own term. I'm sure no one will fight Ale for whatever decisions he makes, but the fact is Agnelli should just make a simple GESTURE of leaving that door open, the possibility of him staying even if Ale won't take it, which I don't think he will because he wants to keep playing and he knows he won't have that opportunity at Juve next season, and that is understandably so - sadly, the time to part will have to come eventually and I'd rather he leave on a high than rotting on the bench.

The fact that his contract renewal is taking way more attention than Juventus wining first scudetto after Calciopoli, tells a lot about this man. Maybe that's the reason why Agnelli, Marotta and Conte don't want him because he is bigger than three of them combined. They want some fame too.

In a perfect world which we don't live in should be Alex to decide when he wants to leave. It's not Conte, nor Agnelli who decides. It's this guy:

Believe me I don't care at all who starts over him. To me, he should never be ranked lowest in our attack pecking order but that's completely up to the coach. Your legendary status must not give you any advantage to get playing time (even though it was far more than only legendary status for Del Piero among the incompetent attackers we have this season). What disappoints me is that the club didn't show any intention/interest to respect him. They didn't even pretend to. He is Del Piero, not a random player you'd simply show the door to. I have no doubt that Ale would stay, even if he was going to get to play once in a while, if the club offered him a new contract.

This had to be what he would decide on himself.

definitely, he should leave in his own terms, and I understand the anger toward the 'disrespect' the club has shown by not even offering a contract as a gesture (even if personally I feel Ale will not extend but that is entirely my speculation)

but even so, no one, not ale or the club will be discussing this until the season and title race is over. all we can do is wait.

ps if Ale doesnt sign a new contract, will he still be involved in Juve tours in June (if he doesnt get called up for Euro)

Wankers running this club.
If he gets some decent time in the remaining matches, he'll rape the shit out of the opponents and Prandelli will call him for the Euros. Not likely to happen though, but considering his current brilliant form he'll do great for Italy. Hopefully he leaves Juventus with 2 trophies.
