If it were up to me..I'd find the fountain of youth and health and give it to Del Piero so he could stay and play for us for ever! That's not clever, unless you can provide an example as to where Agnelli benefits from forcing out the ultimate legend of a club, who doesn't cause trouble and is on a low salary. In this case he would not only not benefit, but would suffer from Del Piero's hardcore supporters, such as yourself.

For the same reason Milan don't want Paolo Maldini in their management according to Paolo himself.

Some patrons feel inferior to club legends and symbol. I wouldn't be surprised if Totti face the same dilemma. Del Piero didn't say "That's not how things should be done" for nothing. When you take such a decision on behalf of player and not any player but Del Piero then this what you should call "not clever".

Seems too ambiguous to say such definite things. Of course Alex doesn't want to leave, as Juve is his club, but equally he wants to play and has always been open to the possibility of playing elsewhere at the end of his career.

Havent seen Ale complain on being left out this season. There is absolutely no way he would want to leave because he is not getting playing time.

Sure he is open to the possibility of playing somewhere else but if given a choice to play another couple of seasons with juve and end his carrer here and he won't look elsewhere. Or maybe he will, but give him a contract to play another couple of seasons and he wont say no, there is no denying that fact. He/we knows he will own MLS or arab or Japan at 45.

I don't agree, certainly not enough to say 'absolutely no way', you have nothing to back such a definite claim up. He's in the twilight of his career and the option to experience something abroad in contrast to sit on the bench at Juve is something that anybody would consider.

I didn't say he wants to leave, I'm not talking in definitive terms, that's the difference.

Still, my initial point was that Agnelli deserves criticism for both his timing and making a statement that Alex should have been afforded, but not necessarily for 'forcing Del Piero out'. Which to me still seems ridiculous.
