What some players? Name them. Some were sold when Lippi and Moggi were at charge, Pippo probably is the only one who is worthy of a mention. We had Trez and our coach and the board decided to keep Ale and sell Pippo. I doubt many people would disagree with them either back then or now after seeing how the Trez-Del Piero pair functioned. Yo can cry over it, that's fine, but Ale was the better player, the more loved and the one Lippi wanted more in his team. I don't remember our fans complaining about Pippo's sale but I can imagine what could have happened if they had decided to sell Ale. We had already sold Zizou and Trez was the poacher we had at our team so we went for keeping a player who was more technically gifted, more creative and someone who could offer more in the attack. Apart from Pippo who was actually an excellent player, I don't know about what other players we can talk. Di Vaio and Miccoli or Mutu? Kovacevic perhaps? I don't know how many Juve and non Juve fans would share your opinion if you really believe it was a pity we sold them and if you really think they were sold because of Del Piero.
Buying Ibrahimovic clearly shows that our board never got fooled by Del Piero's presence. We had Trezeguet and Mutu too but our board didn't think it was enough and rightly so. They knew very well what the team needed and they brought in Ibra.
Baggio? We sold him when he had already almost singlehandedly pushed Italy to the world cup final and Ale was only 21 at that time. A promising youngster and nothing more. Two superstars? Alex was nowhere near the level of Baggio back in the day.
Alex has been one of our most important players (if not the most important one) after Calciopoli up until the last season and he wasn't just an old player playing well for a mid table team. We got a CL spot and Ale scored the most goals in the league. He was at an excellent form. Not only was he our best player but he also was one of the bests in the whole league. It wasn't only the petty characters at the team who played him all the time because in fact, no one in his right mind would have benched him at the first years after Calciopoli.
Now about Diego, as I have always said and no one seems to have an answer for, we first hire a coach who is known for playing 4-4-2 even though we know him using this system might endanger Alex' starting spot. Then the coach benches Ale for Diego giving Del Piero a sub role, establishing the team and the tactics mostly on Diego. We then reject a 17m offer for Diego only to sell him a few days later for a less amount of cash. Do you think we suddenly realized that Del Piero's spot in the team was in danger to the extent that we accept to sell Diego for a lesser bid? It does absolutely make no sense. One more thing, do you really think none of all these poor players we sold because of Del Piero possibly knew anything about that? Why noone mentioned anything after they left? Why should they keep it as a secret letting Del Piero still having his respectful character among the fans?
Now don't come and say justify Diego's sale to me because I'd first need to justify buying him for 25m. I'd also need to justify hiring Del Neri, I'd need to justify purchasing Martinez or selling Trez while still paying for most of his wages. I wouldn't know. One might be too optimistic to say that it was a part of Dzeko's deal next season, one might be too pessimistic to say that it was Del Piero why we sold him and one might be somewhere in the middle and says that our team might prefer a player who is more adapted to an SS role. I'm not judging whether it was a right or wrong decision and I clearly wished we had kept Diego but I wouldn't go crazy for his sale either to the extent that I come up with such silly conspiracy theories.

No need to laugh because one can be a Juve fan and hates Ale at the same time. What doesn't work out is believing that Ale had an influence on the board's decisions in order to keep his role safe and STILL not hating the guy. Even me, as a fan of his who care more about him than the club, would hate him if I ever got to know that. If you think he influenced/influences the board, you have no other way except for hating him. I don't know about the guys you mentioned, I say ANYone who believes that is someone who must hate Alex and is thus a Del Piero hater and why should they deny it in that case? I wouldn't deny if I hates someone or something.
The Del Piero Style guy is right though. The difference between him and me is however that I don't find it wrong if anyone dislikes Del Piero. He has an opinion, I don't. He dislikes the player and I don't. It's just fine

As the player grows older and not as good as he was, it's normal to earn less than what he did when he was in his best years. That's the case of 99.9% players. It's not like Del Piero was sacrificing for the club with those wage-cuts. (Except serie B when most of the players took a wage-cut).
And if Totti was given such a contract then the club thought that he deserves it. In such case, I don't see why should he have taken a wage-cut.
