I don't know. Some older Juve fans I speak to always tell me how DP's influence was the exit of Inzaghi. I always thought it was BS they made up on their own, but then I heard the same thing about Baggio, and possibly of some of the others (some may or may not have made it here otherwise) such as Miccoli, Di Vaio, Mutu, Palladino, Giovinco, Diego, Bojinov.

Now these aren't my words, but I hear it from different sources. How they came to these conclusions, I don't know.

I don't hate Del Piero, even if he is not among the best of the best, he was amazing at his prime but his current form is retiring worthy and he keeping on playing is a detriment to the team and that's the truth, despite the wishes of Del Piero only fans.

I'm too tired to answer your huge rant post, but I will answer to your why at least I respond with a meh when he scores but call him out when he plays like crap. It just merely drags the illusion that he's still a top player, if he was influential the entire game and being central to our attack, that'd be praise worthy, but usually he's absent 90% of the time even when he scores, but one free kick or a slow dribble against a shitty team is enough for people to get overly exited and call him God, when in fact it's a bit sad how he clings to first team football despite the obvious fact he can't do it anymore.

I have never called anyone a Del Piero hater but I think they must be much more than what I even imagined. Saying that the guy is playing bad, that the team will start winning after his retirement, even saying that he is an old bastard who has a fat ass and is cancer to this team doesn't make you a Del Piero hater and I am serious.

However, if you believe that he's had a word in the board's decisions on whether we must keep a player or not, if he has influenced the club's sales and purchases, you have no other way except to hate him. It wouldn't work in any other way. Believing that Del Piero has been guaranteed a starting place since many years ago leaves you to only one thing: hating the guy who has betrayed the fans throughout these years. It's not a way to escape an argument, if I knew what they say was true, I'd hate his guts too.

Because they were threatening Alex' starting role. Then the same man buys Ibrahimovic (it wasn't even a Capello demand) who not only benches Del Piero deservedly in his first year but he also starts over Del Piero when the latter is clearly more in form. It means that Moggi supposed that Ale couldn't be able to compete with the likes of Di Vaio and Miccoli over a place in the team but competing with Ibrahimovic couldn't be possibly anything difficult. Del Piero couldn't have the same influence in a team with strong figures like Moggi, Lippi, Capello and the likes.
He was the reason some players were sold, but not because he asked the board to do it. It was simply because the board thought he is the better player. So when people say that Baggio and the likes were sold because of Del Piero it means that they were sold because someone in the board or the coaches thought that there is no need for two superstars for the same position, or 3 players in the same position and that Del Piero is the one they want to keep. Not Del Piero's fault that those players were sold, but he was the reason they were sold.

After Calciopoli I don't see a stronger figure than Del Piero in the team, including the coaches and the board. A figure that always wants to play (when Ferrara said this, he didn't just mean that Del Piero is someone who always wants to play. Every player wants to play all the time. Ferrara said it in a different context and you know that well) and who is too big for the weak people in the new Juve to bench him. He is now someone who must play all the time. And since he must play all the time, there is no need for someone else who is also a very good player and who will have to seat on the bench for Del Piero to play.

As for the debates that pop up and will undoubtedly pop up whenever he scores a goal, I will make myself clear that I expect no other but Del Piero to be the topscorer of this petty team we have. He will be the topscorer and probably the best player of a mid-table team. Until he is here and must play all the time we won't have a better attacker than him. Our best player will be Del Piero, a player who won't even make the bench in any of the best 15 teams in Europe. Expect mediocrity from Juve until Del Piero is in the team.

Hmmmm.. I just don't see it. He has been nothing but humble for years now. Perhaps you're right, perhaps I'm wrong, I don't know. What I do know is that he has done more for this club than anyone else has in recent history and I'm not going to blame the guy for anything without absolute proof of any wrongdoing.

Older Juve fans? What, how long have you supported Juve? Pippo sale? He was sold because he was made absolete by Trez, totally so. You cant have someone like Pippo on the bench, is too valuable for that plus bit of a character. Ale and him werent best friends exactly to put it mildly (so yeah relationship to your star player is a factor), Pippo bit too selfish in the penalty box to say the least, hehe. But the reason he was sold was Trez, pure and simple. Cant compete with Trez, you have no point being around when you can be sold for big bucks as he was.

Baggio sale = Lippi, having a young phenomenon like Ale available just made the sale easier. The rest you mentionned gotta be a joke Miccoli left because not only because he was dissapointing, even if I liked him, but because he couldnt take the Ibra sale, demanded to be sold and had a fallen out with Moggi. Mutu benched as much as Ale was basically when he was here by Capello. Di Vaio, Bojinov and Palladino I wont even bother with And you cant honestly tell me we just loaned/sold Gio and Diego because of Ale, you cant be that dimwitted.

And oh, your shortlist: Everyone except Ibra and Baggio Ale is/was superior to basically, just FYI.

Can't really blame him for the wages. He does bring a lot of money to the team and if he does that it's normal to ask to be paid what he deserves.
His wages aren't a problem. The wages of other players who didn't give much on the pitch anymore and weren't popular enough to bring money with their name on a Juve jersey, were creating a problem.
That's a problem the new board did solve rather well.

Do you even know how many times he has taken a wage cut? Jeez. And its laughable to talk about wages when he has been THE money earner for Juve for 1 and half a decade. Gigi is another big money earner, and I would hardly lament his 5m wage despite him being more and more injury prone.

Firstly, i am not winding anyone up. I'm sorry if you feel that way.

Secondly, i do know whats going on here, i read this thread and i read the arguments, just because i don't post doesn't mean i don't read.

Third of all, i was not referring to you anyway, in fact i was not referring to anyone personally, unless you use the term "DP hater" in an argument, since you said that you never used it, that means my post did not refer to you.

I don't follow the club as in depth as you guys do of course, so i won't go into this argument, but when i see someone just brushing off another Juve fans argument by calling him a DP hater, it just makes me laugh, i don't see how its possible to be a Juve fan and hate DP at the same time, it just doesn't work out. Some posters here haven't really had their arguments refuted instead, they've been called DP haters and their arguments brushed under the carpet.

Nick doesn't hate DP, neither do Suns, Alen or Deneb. That much i am sure of.
