While everyone else was below mediocre.
Come on, what did Alex do tonight? He did very little and lost the ball easily from what I saw.

I don't mean to harp on this but whenever I enter this thread I see nonsense. Just because he's Alex it doesn't mean he gets to be graded differently than anybody else. People have to admit when he plays poorly, yet nobody ever really does.

And Chiellini was a monster in the first half. He was our best player by quite some margin.

Jeez Andy, he wasn't worse than others and wasn't better than others. Chiellini doesn't count, he's always a step ahead this season. When I see people now yelling that he did nothing but at the same time protecting Diego or Amauri because "no one walked for them or helped them" I could just :inter:
He stole balls at the very back in our defense from Napoli players and running up the pitch waiting for someone to follow or make a pass when nothing helps at least he gets fouls. I can't ask for more. He's just a damn striker after all and a striker needs support. I don't say he was good. But coming and blaming him now is ridiculous.

He also got possession on the ball, got fouls, tried to create and had some nice moves. in a match like this, when he gets no help and all we do is defence, it's a lot. Amauri, for example, was very bad...he just jumped all the match and lost every possible ball to Napoli's defenders.

I get the feeling that people here attacking him because of his age...it's like a bad match (and he didn't have a bad match today) of a 35 years old is worse than a bad match of 25 years old player. and SAB, i totally agree with you about what you said, Diego and Amauri and all that...the truth his that in the last two months Ale's good, and he's one of our best players in every game he plays. forget about his age.

I thought he could have done better on a couple plays, and also given the ball up sooner while around the box that would have probably ended up in a scoring chance.

The truth is, he just didn't do much. MY rating of his performance on the pitch has nothing to do with his age. But I'm not sure why I bother to say this in the DP thread because I'm never going to get any pleasant responses, especially from someone named "DelPieroStyle."

Del Piero was one of the better performers, but that isn't saying much.

Chiellini and Marchisio were the best players.

Del Piero and Cannavaro were not dreadful.
