Even the opponent's fans???? The majority of italians I know, respect DP, as a nice chap, but as a footballer, his star has been on the wane for a few years now. Basing this on the Madrid game. They applauded him for his technique, and yes, he does inspire others, through his flair and decency. its far more ignorant and stupid to suggest that DP brings fear to the hearts of opponents. The opinion of DP outside of Juventus world, is not on a Great Captain, who galvanises the troops, and who strikes fear into opponents. That is simply...bullshit... to pretend its true anywhere other than in your head and heart, and likely loins.

And yes, the madrid fans paid him homage. for his goals, for his history. NOT for his amazing abilities as captain. They are not one and the same...this is why I say its pitiful to use in this argument. Because I could find a few hundred thousand fans of various clubs, juventus included, who would laugh at the suggestion of DP striking fear into the hearts of opponents. And I would laugh with them. because its ridiculous. Buffon is more of a captain, he shows more passion, more determination, and demands more respect, from me, and those around him...
I agree with you, but good luck fighting an unwinable battle, its like going to the church and trying to convince the priest that their god is just some imagination.

It's Del Piero temple here and anything not positive about Del Piero is considered blasphamy.

that smile of his...he is Juventus right now for me... Juve playin a match without Ale loses 30% of the interest of seeing it.
That's the problem for me, because a lot of people here are only Ale fans not Juventus, I wouldn't be surprised that if ale left for some other team, quite a lot of fans would go with him.

i firstly "falled in love" for juventus then del piero, and if del piero must be benched for the good of juve, so be it. But seeing him in a match means a lot more for me than non seeing him, and i don't think i'm making a mistake or sth bad because he is my favourite player. Everyone wants to see a match in which his favourite player starts no?. I'm one of the guys who celebrate and gets more happy when Il Capitano scores and some people press the edit button for their signatures than seeing amauri score. Oh and i would see Juve's game after him will retired be sure about that..

You're not a bigger fan than anyone here. So soap it and stop pretending like you love the team more than anyone.

I agree 100% but its DP not just a player we're talking about.
Okay, then.

Let's open a 'Criticism of Del Piero' Thread, where no-one is allowed to say anything good about Del Piero.

Unfortunately it is anything but criticizing, more of a hatred.
Very few are in that category and a lot of people are ridiculously over sensitive about any criticism of Del Piero.
