Alessandro Del Piero’s contractual problems at Juventus have hit another snag as the Gazzetta dello Sport is claiming that the club is unhappy with the player’s performances this season.

zoom - galleria Negotiations over the renewal of the Golden Boy’s contract seem to have hit a dead end in recent weeks, with the Juventus hierarchy refusing to accept his reported £3.2m a year salary demands.

It was originally thought that despite the problems in discussions, Del Piero’s symbolic status at the club would make it impossible for an agreement not to eventually be reached.

However last week Juve sporting director Alessio Secco announced that that there was a risk that Del Piero may leave the club.

The Gazzetta dello Sport has followed that up today by claiming that the club is not happy with the 32-year-old’s early season form. He has scored just once all season, a one-yard tap-in against Cagliari, and he has look slow and off-the-pace in a number of games.

New signing Vincenzo Iaquinta has made a blistering start to his Bianconeri career with four goals in four appearances and Del Piero is no longer seen as an indispensable member of the squad, as illustrated on Sunday when the ex-Udinese man was chosen ahead of Il Pinturicchio.

The offer on the table for Del Piero is a renewal until 2010 with a 30% salary cut for the first year. However Del Boy does not consider this as the true value of his worth.

Gianluigi Buffon has declared that Alessandro Del Piero will return to the Azzurri fold despite his omission from the squad to face Georgia and South Africa.

zoom - galleria The Golden Boy was left off Roberto Donadoni’s latest squad list, with the Italy Coach preferring the attacking options of Antonio Di Natale, Vincenzo Iaquinta, Cristiano Lucarelli, Fabio Quagliarella and Luca Toni.

This has left many people questioning whether the soon-to-be 33-year-old has played his last game for his country.

Del Piero’s Juventus colleague Gianluigi Buffon does not believe this is the case and thinks Il Pinturicchio will come back and prove his quality.

“Del Piero’s adventure with the national team has not ended,” Buffon said at Italy’s training camp at Coverciano.

“Donadoni has not said his time is over and he has the desire to win his place back. He will return and prove his worth.

“The reason he wasn’t called up is because Donadoni did not want to humiliate him by leaving him on the bench or in the stands

Brescia eye ADP swoop!

Brescia President Luigi Corioni has revealed that the Rondinelle are ready to make a sensational offer for Juventus ace Alessandro Del Piero.

The Bianconeri captain is out of contract at the end of the season and may consider a move if Juventus fail to match his demands, which are thought to be more than £3m per season.

However, should this be the case, the 32-year-old could follow in the footsteps of his former Juve teammate Roberto Baggio with a move to Brescia in the latter stages of his career.

“I am ready to deal with Del Piero, just as I did with Baggio,” revealed Corioni. “For players like them I can go over our salary cap because it is definitely worth it.

“We have a good squad and we are ready for promotion. With these players we could get into the top six in Serie A – and Del Piero would be a fantastic addition.”

It remains to be seen whether or not the Juventus No 10 would leave his beloved team for a smaller side such as Brescia.

But the Turin outfit’s sporting director Alessio Secco recently admitted that there was a chance that Del Piero could leave the Old Lady at the end of the season.

The Bianconero was only a substitute for last weekend’s game against Fiorentina – which finished 1-1 – and has also been left out of Roberto Donadoni’s latest Italy squad.

Yeah, that's what I heard. A 'friend' of mine in italy sent me the info through sms, he saw the news on a sports news bulletin. That's all I know, but he wouldn't lie. Basically the same story 4-4-2 report.
