-I'm really disappointed with Alex's performance so far. That's what I've guessed before this season started but I still have some hope it's only because he was affected by the contract

I think dp should agree on the conditions of juve management to sign the contract , true that he is a legend but he is not on the same level as he was in the past

Sacchi Hopes Del Piero Can Still Give More

However, the former national team coach admitted that at a certain age the players decrease in their contribution.

Arrigo Sacchi commented to Radio Kiss Kiss about Alessandro Del Piero's current moment, which saw him relegated to the bench at his club and also losing out a place in the Italian national team for the upcoming European Championship qualifier.

"It's evident that the contribution which a player can give at a certain age can decrease," declared the former Milan and national team coach. "I hope it is not the start of the end for him.

Sacchi then spoke about his certainty that Kaka will be the next Golden Ball winner.

"At 99 percent, he will win it: he won the Champions League and it was decisive," he confirmed. "But I must add that Totti is a fantastic player who, unfortunately, when Italy won the World Cup, was not phsysically well.

"And if Ibrahimovic finds performance consistency, he can win it in the future," predicted Sacchi.

Del Piero: the change in 7 days

Seems that during last hours there have been contacts between Stefano Del Piero and Jean Claude Blanc, meeting that if from a side could arouse optimism, from another side suppose the possibility that next meeting could be also the last one. The precise date of rendez-vous will be scheduled during next days but will be a immediately deadline. Perhaps within a week we will know the destiny of Juventus and Alex Del Piero, if they will separate or not; three are knots that remain to unleash: those economical- the distance between the parts is almost 1 million euro-, the technical one- Del Piero doesn't want to reassess the own position in field- and the athletic- the player would personalize the own training.

I know it sounds harsh but the past doesn't count. if DP is not performing up to his standard then why should we pay him whatever he wants?
let's face it he is getting older and I doubt he can still do his magic every single game. I don't think one touch of genius grants him a multi-million euros contract.
he is clearly slow. I say the board is doing the right thing.
take or leave Alex. I hope he stays and when he leaves he does it in style and not like this.

Okay, as a rule I don't read posts longer than 10 lines or so, and your first line is wrong. I'm not saying let his contract run out and make him leave, just don't play him so much and think he is going to get better because he should be better as a coach than a player right now.

Ohh no, here comes all this Lippi nonsense again...

Yea, well he's not coming back.
Ok, Ive edited down my post & your right about Lippi, he wont be back.

Not because we believe he will finally get round to winning the balon d'or in 2010. To leave as our longest serving player & top scorer is perfect. To ruin that by leaving early & playing for some other club is just wrong.

I know this sentimental post leaves me wide open to a real Burk-ing, but its how I feel.

I think we should, more than ever, stand behind our capitan in his hour of need. We must encourage him to come throuhg this and if it means that he transitions from player to management then so be it. But lets make sure he stays long term. I think we need Del Piero and Buffon and Nedved to start imparting their champion focus/style on the next generation of Juventini.

I also agree on giving all our support to our captain, although we had similar episode under Capello, which resulted in DP giving 150%. Maybe this is a way to motivate him even more :)

So I KNOW that Del Piero will gain his old habit of scoring the needed goals.

I think that management should once close eyes for value-performance charts and deal this with their hearts, not their ratio's.

The value of Del Piero is not in his performance only. He will be back to all of you (non-believers and hard-critics) when he will score a free-kick against Inter, as he did the last time :)

Take your time Il Capitano, you have deserved everything and much more !!

This time around though, it's not so much the coach as it is Del Piero. Capello showed a compleye lack of faith in Del Piero whereas Ranieri has opted to give him a fair amount of playing time, in order for him to hit old form.
Also, Del Piero managed to come back then, but I am not sure if he has got the ability to come back once again to dominate in Serie A, now that he is two years older. It wouldn't surprise me though. He still got the magic touch.

Tribal news, but what the hell..:

Juventus step closer to Del Piero agreement

tribalfooball.com - October 10, 2007

A breakthrough in negotiations between Alessandro del Piero and Juventus over a new contract has been achieved.

Stefano Del Piero, Alessandro's brother, spoke with Juve chief Jean-Claude Blanc last night with the two parties coming closer on several outstanding issues.

Around £700,000-a-year separates the two parties in terms of finances and Del Piero is prepared to compromise, particularly as Juve are softening their stand over the player's request he be allowed to tailor his own training programme.

What does that mean?
