DP is virtually a has-been, he is blowing up all the bridges himself. he was a great player and still is a good player, and I"m sure he will shine from time to time but is that enough to give him the money he is asking for?
he shouldn't be given this for his past but for what he will do during the contract and I'm sorry to say this but he doesn't deserve it anymore.
he was awesome but his days are almost over.
in the past we have always had great players and we will in the future.
the world doesn't end with DP leaving us although I hope he will stick around.
he needs to accept he is slowly fading and so do most of you.
he is my idol but all this crap is unnecessary
Alex is you leave Juve, do so gracefully

I will enjoy watching him proving all his doubters wrong... that's thing Alex does best... he recovered in the past from a worst crises so I see no reason why he won't do the same this time.

FORZA Del Piero.
I'm waiting for that too! He's far from finished. He will prove what he's made of. Wait and see.
I'm also looking forward to see the banners in the stadium next match:)

LIPPI: DEL PIERO IS KEY

Former Italy and Juventus coach Marcello Lippi believes Juve can win the Scudetto this season, with Alessandro Del Piero the key man.

The veteran striker is in negotiations over a contract extension at the Stadio Olimpico with his current deal set to end in June 2008.

Del Piero was not included in the Italy squad for Saturday's Euro 2008 qualifier against Georgia and did not start for Juventus against Fiorentina on Sunday.

However, Lippi believes the 32-year-old is still a key player for the Bianconeri, and has tipped the newly-promoted side to benefit from a season out of European football as they bid to regain their status following their relegation for match-fixing in 2006.

"Regarding Del Piero's situation, my thoughts are very clear," said Lippi. "I would sum it up in just four words: Del Piero is Juventus."

He added: "I believe they [Juve] can win the Scudetto.

"I expect Juve to remain in the race until March and then take advantage of the teams that are playing in Europe. Not to play in Europe is a big advantage."

Juve are currently second in the Serie A standings, three points behind leaders Internazionale after seven games.

Just give me a year and I'll be out of your hair :D
DON'T BOMB ME!
Burke,

Surely you can see why we want Del Piero to stay at Juve? Not because we believe he will finally get round to winning the balon d'or in 2010 (ok maybe some do, but speaking for the able-minded among us) but because at the moment he is the symbol of our club, he is our bandieria in every way, he's one of us living his dream, captain of Juventus FC, scoring important goals, setting records that will probably never be broken. In these days of Bosman free transfers, buy-out clauses for players over a certain age, to see Ale still at Juve, even as an underused sub gives us pride in the club, the shirt, our history. Your comment about Kahn - I cant tell if you were being sarcastic or not - you'd like him benched but still at Bayern till he calls it a day surely? He is the last of his kind, a player who could have left for his pick of clubs, the Madrids, Manchesters & Barca's came calling & he stayed loyal to Bayern, a mark of the man & the club. The same is true for Ale, Maldini, Totti. The honour with which they play for the shirt, the pride in wearing the colours of their boyhood heroes is enough for them, no matter who comes calling.

This has nothing to do with choosing Del Piero over the club I love, just a realiastion that he is the type of player we wont see too often in future. A life long fan giving his career to the old lady. Im honoured to have met him, seen him play, to have been in the curva sud & chanted the name of a legend as he carved his place into the history of his & our club. To leave as our longest serving player & top scorer is perfect. To ruin that by leaving early & playing for some other club is just wrong.

I know this sentimental post leaves me wide open to a real Burk-ing, but its how I feel.
Okay, as a rule I don't read posts longer than 10 lines or so, and your first line is wrong. I'm not saying let his contract run out and make him leave, just don't play him so much and think he is going to get better because he should be better as a coach than a player right now.
Ohh no, here comes all this Lippi nonsense again...
I always loved Lippi and I love him more now.
Yea, well he's not coming back.

I think Alex should quit the national team . He's 33 , he won the greatest thing you can possibly win in the world of football with Italy . Now it's time to move on.
He's not even in bad form , he played well against torino and barely got playing time against Fiorentina , but it's obvious his age is catching up with him . He's slower and can't compete at the level he used to . The sooner he accepts that the better off he is .

After i saw the Juventus fiorentina game , I saw quick and effective counterattacks from Iaquinta Trezeguet and palladino . If juve were a little more fortuntate they could have easilly scored 3 goals against Fiorentina ( one of the best teams in serie a) . Del piero should still play but not with italy , He could be very useful for Juventus as his skills , leadership , and experience are still very much needed .

Juventus should start giving palladino a chance however . Many may argue that he is overrated , but i have never seen a player that makes such an impact on the game in so little time . Once Ranieri gives this guy a chance I think he may have a bright future with Juventus .

everyone keeps talking about Alex being over the hill.... but last year he was our leading scorer. And he played many 90 min games back to back. he's just in a goal slump right now but he will bounce back as he has always done for he is Del Piero. He hasn't been playing that badly. He just hasn't been scoring but he has looked dangerous and creative when he has played...

and if Lippi who has won the most prestigious titles as a coach can say that Del Piero is Juve....who are we to say otherwise

He isn't playing badly at all but he isn't the threat he used to be . In serie B , the opponents were not at the same level technically , physically , or even tactically .
Del piero could beat them with his experience alone . Im not saying being the top scorer of serie B is easy , but it is much less of a challenge than serie A . Serie B dosn't need the same pace and fitness serie A needs and these are the two things Del piero is lacking . He can't start every game any more . This new style of play depends on speed , decisiveness , and teamwork . Unfortunately , when alex gets the ball on a counterattack it never ends well . But he does well in creating plays out of nothing and that's why i think he still is crucial , his vision is a rare quality that only a handful of players have .

Galliani rules out Alex swoop

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has definitively ruled out a move for unsettled Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero.

Del Piero’s contract talks with the Old Lady are progressing slowly and sporting director Alessio Secco admitted that there are fears in Turin that he could leave.

While Rossoneri boss Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that he would be delighted to welcome Pinturricchio to the San Siro, Galliani has laughed off the suggestion.

“Regarding Del Piero, I would say that he isn’t in Milan’s plans,” he told La7.

“A while ago, Ancelotti said that we could sign him, but it was just a joke and I told him to be careful with that kind of comment.

“We could have signed Del Piero when he was playing for Padova, but he was expensive and Juve got him instead.”

Galliani also took time to clarify the reasons why the Diavolo’s bid to sign Gigi Buffon broke down and exploded the myth that President Silvio Berlusconi had vetoed the move.

“We asked Juve for Buffon, but the Bianconeri President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli said that he wasn’t for sale at any price,” he explained. “It wasn’t that Berlusconi intervened.”

Is our management just bad with personal relationships?

I don't know who's to blame, but they're here since a year and there are already have been several personal problems inside the club.

- Tardelli resigning from the board just months after he sensationally accepted a role at Juve. He didn't explain why, but it's clear something was wrong.

- Deschamps 'resigning' in suspicious circumstances. He was doing good, brought us back to A, was loved by the fans and seemingly by the players, but again he left without explaining.

- Trezeguet doubtful, Nedved unclear, Camo on the move during the summer. Of course, a lot of media speculation in that matter. Not sure if there was really any problem with them but still, not a clear situation.

- Now, Del Piero's contract renewal into trouble. It's not the first time there is some tension in Pinturicchio's contract talks but it never went that big...

I'm not blaming anyone as I have no clue what is really happening in there. I can only monitor these weird situations from the outside...

I agree with Lippi, Del Piero is Juventus. People talk about how Juve benched Baggio for Del Piero back in the days, but I don't really see who in our current squad has the level to justify a similar treatment of Alex. Certainly not Ianquinta and Paladino.
Alex still has a lot to give to this club, it all comes down to faith from the management. He is the captain and a great rolemodel for any player, something you wont find in a transfer window.

Nice words by lippi, well i support del piero a lot, and i hope that he can stay with us for like 3 years more, hes in a crisis now , i dont say that he can play like hes 25 or something, but hes not ended, he still being an apport as a player, maybe he's not a starter anymore or 90mins player, but still can do great things, Del Piero is very important not only for the team play, also for the team mentality, Just hope everything will end good,i dont think that some people are just "Del Piero FC" Fans, i think that people support juventus over del piero but they respect and support one of the greatest and important juventus symbol, as simple as that.

Forza JUVENTUS, forza Del Piero
