Wow, this makes the transfer season more exciting.

Although I have hopes(even still) of Del Piero playing more consistantly, I think he wont get much playing time next season.

Capello silences angry Alex Saturday 28 May, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The tension is rising in Turin as Fabio Capello responded to Alessandro Del Piero’s insistence he had nothing to thank the Coach for, while rumours link the player to Arsenal.

“The results prove me right,” smiled the Juventus boss as he prepared for Sunday’s Scudetto celebrations. “One less ‘thank you’ I receive won’t make much difference considering the many people who have shown me gratitude for this year.”

The relationship between Capello and the captain has been poor throughout the campaign, particularly with Del Piero substituted a remarkable 26 times and usually the first to be pushed aside for tactical requirements.

Yesterday afternoon Del Piero hit out at his Coach and assured during his Press Conference that he did not need to thank Capello for the title success. The Italian international also warned that he would reconsider his future if he was not given guarantees of more first team football.

“A club like Juventus cannot give guarantees to a player, as those who go on to the field do so because they have earned it,” snapped Capello in response. “If Del Piero asks for guarantees, then what are the others supposed to say?”

Their relationship is now hanging by a thread and it’s increasingly likely that Alex will move on in the summer. He is not short on offers and could bring in precious resources to the club coffers.

The Japanese J-League has been following the situation for several seasons now, in particular Yokohama Marinos, but there is a new rumour of interest from Arsenal. The main problem is represented by his £7m per season wages, but he would be willing to take a pay-cut at this stage of his career.

Meanwhile, Juventus will be presented with the Scudetto trophy during Sunday’s match with Cagliari and then travel through the streets of Turin in an open-top bus.

all games that we were winning and we needed someone that was running more and holding the ball more.
We weren't winning all of them. And the ones we were winning were mainly due to him either scoring, or assisting, or both.

I don't see how anyone could hold the ball more than Alex, if he was asked to.

And I can't see the sense in substituting a certain player when he performs poorly, when the team requires a tactical change, when the coach needs someone to run more, when the coach wants to give someone else the chance, and finally even when he is having a MoM performance.

It's a dead end for him then.

This does not sound good. I can't recall Del Piero saying things like that, and he's had some rough spells. Also, I don't believe Capello is such a clean guy as a lot of you seem to believe. Remember Montella? When I was in Italy a couple of months ago I even saw Totti telling that Capello can be a real bastard when he doesn't like a player and that he's hardly a fair coach.

I'm glad DP FINALLY said it. He had to react at some point in time. He played a good season, with some GREAT games (e.g. Milan) and never received the praise he should have. That he was benched against Livorno was cruel IMO and unnecessary.

Really, I don't see why on earth Del Piero should thank Capello either. And no, for the love of god, Capello wasn't great this season! Didn't you all see those tactical blunders against Liverpool? Don't you realise we were knocked out more thanks to Capello than thanks to Liverpool?

If it comes down to a choice between keeping Capello or keeping DP (not that it will - but that is the way this thread seems to be going)....

....See you later Del Piero!

Had Umberto and Gianni Agnelli been still with us, all this shiit wouldn't be happening. And don't tell me about Cap's winning mentality or his fair treatment towards all players. He's a bastard but he's the one in charge of the squad. Del Piero will either have to go shine elsewhere (arsenal, barcelona), or to accomodate himself with this kind of treatment. He cannot ask for guarantees from capello.

Probably. Would be a fatal mistake of Juve nonetheless. What has Capello brought to us? Fights? Ugly football? Mind you, in the end we only won the scudetto thanks to a brilliant move by Del Piero. Capello is building a team with Zebina's and Emersons (who still isn't half as good as Davids once was.)

So, please leave, Del Piero, creativity is not wanted here. Capello won us a scudetto. Boohoo. We wanted the CL. Job NOT DONE, Fabio.

Couldnt have said it better myself Seven. This guy is the only one realizes that whether Cassano comes or mutu stays they will never bring to juventus wat del piero bought to juventus. Mind you even when we had the great zidane and del piero was injured we still came in sixth in the league. Del Piero has to stay at Juventus not only do we need a protagonist who is creative but we also need an italian. Im getting sick and tired of hearing of ibra and mutu or trez. I want a juventus with italians, not foreigners. And not only are we foreign we are teaching foreigners how to play soccer and that is why italy is not as successful as it should be because too many people understand our game.

I'd rather see Del Piero leave with his head UP after another fantastic season, rather than see him screwed by a military bastard like Capello.
Lippi & Crap can never be compared.

Yes, we played Barcelona like football under Lippi. Please, Juve was rarely entertaining, it's not like Cap made them boring.
