Del Piero set for new deal Wednesday 25 October, 2006

Juventus are ready to offer Alessandro Del Piero a new contract, confirmed Bianconeri President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli.
Del Piero, who is a symbol for the Turin outfit and proved his loyalty to the club by choosing to stay despite the demotion to Serie B, is currently contracted until 2008.
However, the Old Lady’s chief was eager to state that discussions are underway to extend the deal.
“Del Piero will never be a problem for Juve,” said Cobolli Gigli, who was elected to the Lega Calcio Council as representative of the Serie B clubs on Tuesday, along with Bologna chief Alfredo Cazzola.
“He’s a player with personality and he won’t be distracted by all the talks about his 200th goal, which has not yet arrived.
“Alessio Secco and Jean-Claude Blanc are talking to Del Piero and will continue to do so until we can find a solution.
“I do not see problems – in the end the relationship is strong,” concluded the official.
Del Piero is chasing club goal No 200, but the striker insists that he is not focusing on this personal landmark.
“The next goal will arrive. I have already scored 199, I have no problems in having scored one more or one less,” said Pinturicchio.
“Why was I replaced against Triestina? You have to ask Deschamps that,” commented the world champion.
