Del Piero blasts Don Fabio Friday 25 August, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alex Del Piero has launched a sensational attack on former Juventus boss Fabio Capello. “I would have left had he stayed,” said the captain.

The tactician joined Real Madrid this summer in the aftermath of the Calciopoli demotion, a decision which has resulted in Del Piero pledging his future to the Old Lady.

“My relationship with Capello was not satisfying from many different points of view,” said the crowd favourite.

“It wasn’t only because I was often left out of the side, but because we just had a different way of seeing things.

“If Capello had decided to stay then I think I would have chosen another club, probably in a foreign League.”

Although the tactician did lead the side to two Scudetti in two seasons – which have now been revoked – Del Piero has blamed the Coach for Champions League failure last term.

“The man didn’t know how to manage the squad,” added Pinturrichio as he looked back to the Arsenal loss. “I think we dropped out of the tournament because of his methods.

“Then we only got as far as the quarter-finals last season because of a mistake by the Werder Bremen 'keeper in the last 16 match.”

The club symbol also backed the outfit’s directors for opting to take their fight for Serie A readmission to the civil courts.

“I think the club had no other choice,” he noted. “There was no fair treatment if we compare Juve to the other scandal-hit clubs.

“We were the only outfit to really turn over a new leaf. I don’t find it right that we were the only ones to be punished,” concluded the No 10.

"E mi fanno sorridere i festeggiamenti degli interisti per lo scudetto, lo dico senza ironia ma perché la trovo una cosa strana. Certo se uno non l'ha mai vinto immagino che sia contento di vedere il nome della propria squadra sugli annali. Ma in campo si sono viste altre cose." (Alessandro Del Piero)

What an absolutely wonderful comment :D

"The celebrations by Interisti for the scudetto are making me laugh. I say this without irony, but simply because I think it's someting strange. Sure, if one has never won the title yet, I can immagine him being glad to see his name up on the trophy list. But that's not what was seen on the field of play."

Del Piero's meaner than we think :D.

i know everyone has waited for something this and everyone loves dp even more and we all agree with his statements, i do as well, but don't fool yourself, this is not "classy" and it's not professional. especially when you consider his statements while capello was with us. but this is dp so it's a double standard i guess. professional and classy would have been picking up the phoe and venting your frustration and speaking your mind, not blasting him 2 times in 2 weeks via newspapers.

a) He blasted him once.
b) He waited for two years to blast him, because Capello was still at the club. During no less than two years, Del Piero never said one word about the whole situation. How is that not classy?

Andries is right Vlatko,DP thought of his team mates & the fans as not to disrupt the harmony within the squad. His gestures & timing of things are always spot on.

a) first in that interview when he said he treated 30 year olds like 18 year olds, and now this.
b) it's not classy in anyway. slandering anyone over a newspaper, no matter how much you hate that someone, where millions of people will see it, is not professional in any way.

i really won't get into this, i just expressed my opinion. but personally i would have prefered if dp kept his mouth shut till the end and talked to capello himself, rahter than doing this. then again i'm not one of those that despised capello during the years

Although am one of few here who actually respect capello. I respect the captain for the fact that he didnt blast him for sitting on the bench but actually for his tactics.

but for the people who say that he waited two years, didnt he blast cap at the end of last season?

Anyway respect to the captain

he didn't blast him as Totti did. he talked mainly about his way of training and tactics.

Oh please Vlatko,

Del Piero never criticized Capello's history books but his tactics and the way he used to treat his players. Show me one thing wrong/bad he said in his statement?

Sure we all know Alex the class, Alex the example, but hey, Crapello is indeed and infact a piece of shit. So attacking or bashing Crapello the way Alex did is Indeed Class. Because Don Fabio deserves much more than that.

And lets not forget also great players in the past have been bashing Capello, from Totti, Ferrara, Tacchi to Montella.

I still rate his comments as Class.

i didn't say what he said was wrong, i said i even agree with what he said, i don't agree with the way he said and most importantly to whom he said it. if he had told that to capello himself, not the press, he'd get more respect from me, that would have been class.

like i said i don't want to get into this as it's a lost cause. all of you despise capello and i respect him as a coach. i also love and respect del piero so this debate is pointeless to me. in this particular case, personally i would have prefered the other approach rather than this one, but that alex has class and is a professioanl, that goes without saying.
