An in other news, Fowler returns to Liverpool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, lets do a little comparison of the two legends:

Alessandro Del Piero - 188 goals in 12 years with the club (1993-2006) *minus one year injury time.
Robbie Folwer - 170 goals in 9 years with the club (1992-2001). *any injuries?

As for Alex, he's had many great games. Between Monaco and Inter 98 for me.

What do you think is Del Piero's best match in his carrear ?

Monaco 1998
Inter 1998
Real Madrid 2003
Milan 2005
Fiorentina 2006 (cup)
some other match ?

I can't help but choose the Fiorentina cup one. The video of the highlights with Del Piero and the feeling of breaking the record is too strong. What do you think ?
I'd definitely say the one against fiorentina at 4th of December 1994... One of the most beautiful comebacks and one of the most glorious goals ever.

Yeah, more games that should be added probably :

Intercontintal cup match
Supercup vs Parma

Great matches those were. Anybody remembers we had that match vs Arsenal, Juve lost, but Del Piero was amazing there. Don't know why I recalled that now.

Question : Does anyone have stats for the Italy U-21 ? Apparently Del Piero didn't win the European Championship with the side, but some sources say he did. Didn't he play in the winning team of 1992 ? Does someone have the stats for this ?

I think it was the fourth of July 2000. There was a gentle rain falling from the sky in Rotterdam. Del Piero only played for 30 minutes or so, but managed to have a huge impact on the game. It truly was a memorable evening.

Capello Praises Del Piero
Juventus coach Fabio Capello hailed Alessandro Del Piero after he saved the Bianconeri from probable Coppa Italia elimination at the hands of Roma.

The home side were 3-0 ahead in the quarter final first-leg clash in Turin thanks to Mancini, Damiano Tommasi and Simone Perrotta, but Del Piero came off the bench to net twice in the last 20 minutes and make it 3-2.

"Apart from his two goals, the guy is in great shape both in his head and physically," said Capello. "He is an important resource to Italian football.”

He added: "I am pleased with the reaction of the side. The lads showed that they have a great determination to do well and with this result the tie is still wide open.

"In the first half, when we had three or four goalscoring chances, we were not looking good.

"They, on the other hand, are a side in good physical shape and are lethal on the counter-attack."

Praising people is nice, but they're no more than words. Saying "Oh yes Del Piero is a great player" but then not fielding him is useless.
I can't understand why anyone asks Capello why he benched alex all the time for 4 months. And when he finally get's his chance he scores a bunch of goals and play great.
Capello I heard say sometimes that's because of being benched he is good now. Just like saying "I made him good" That's bullshit. Just admit you made a mistake!

Forza Alessandro Del Piero!!!

actually that's what happened,he is having a great energy and desire to play, when he comes in he is doing all his best to score, and till the last minute, that's what I want to see..yes somehow what Capello did,is working very well so far.
