As in, Del Piero is making himself available whenever Prandelli needs him. Totti said no to qualifications even though Lippi may have given him a call up, and then when the WC came around he was considering it.

BTW, i liked EDIT number 2 (about the US) even better... :)

I didn't think it was right to not see Trezeguet retire here. Del Piero leaving would be even weirder.

According to the Italian press Delneri will start Quag-Iaq vs. Palermo and give Ale some rest. It think it'll be more clever to start DP vs. Palermo and bench him vs. Cagliari on Sunday. After all he'll probably start vs. City next Thursday, and it makes more sense that he'll get some rest in the last match before the EL (he better start two matches in 7 days and not in 4 days).

That's exactly what I would do. Play him vs Palermo, rest him vs Cagliari play him against City.

After Merda there's a national team break. So Ale will get some rest anyway. What i'm trying to say is that he can start City and Merda within 3 days and play well, if he'll start Palermo and not Cagliari. He definitely can start 3 matches in 11 days. 3 in 8 days is more complicated.
