ZAF3000, please, what you wrote was pure, unadulterated bullshit. Are you trying to tell me that a team with Christiano Ronaldo or Messi wouldn't be able to bring Juve back to Serie A? Absolutely stupid, our squad even with half of it gone was so much better than everyone else's it was just an eventuality we would go back. Even with the mediocre purchases upon our return we we were still a lot better than the serie A regulars, other than Inter of course.

Fortunately our manager is not as infatuated as you are. Del Piero was influential of course but he's not the whole reason we are back, that's insulting to the club and to the players.

Very true. Every season we get this. For years we've had so many players who were supposed to out play Del Piero and put him on the bench, but season in and season out Del Piero manages to shine and out perform them all. Yes he might be getting older, but he is like fine wine, the older it gets the better it becomes. Del Piero is a legend and a phenomena, you cannot put regular players rules on him. Such players go by their own standards. I truly believe Del Piero has more to offer and I am sure of it.
Oh come on, this is bullshit. Del Piero of 8 years ago was so much better than this current version it's ridiculous. This one can barely outpace the slowest defenders out there, and gets dispossessed so easily it's infuriating. His free kicks are still good but that's it, it sickens me the circle jerk around a player that's mostly gone.

One thing you should keep in mind though, if there's a reason Trezeguet, Buffon, Camoranesi, Nedved remained with the club in Serie B it was because of Del Piero. That's a fact.

He made the first move and both Nedved and Buffon stated that it's because of Ale and because he convinced them they remained with the team.

Trez wanted to go, Camoranesi same thing, they stayed because the club made them. Buffon stayed because he wanted to help go back to being a great club, same deal with Nedved. Del Piero is influential but he's so overrated it sickens me.

Sickens you? Like the though of Del Piero make you vomit? :D
It's mostly the circle jerks. I can picture Azurri7 jerking ZAF3000 off while he jerks off Blondu while he does Del Piero Style and so on. :p

Seriously though, Del Piero even in his prime is not half as good as Zidane ever was.

Del Piero is kind of a talisman for the club.

Zidane is the better player. However, I don't think Zidane would have stayed through the Serie B season.

They stayed because the club made them? :lol2:, Blanc? or Secco? Which one?

Do you produce fruit salad inside your head? Stop being thick.

There ARE statements make your research and you might find them here, in this particular thread, Nedved STATED that Del Piero himself convinced him to stay in this team during Serie B time.

It sickens you that he's overrated or it sickens you that in every season he keeps shutting up the likes of you?

What sickens me is that you're trying your best to underrate his importance and his role in the club. If we're overrating Ale(though he can't be overrated) you're underrating him in every single aspect, let alone his presence on the field.

I said the club made Camoranesi and Trez stay, which is true. Both of them wanted out during the Serie B debacle, but they were still under contract and we had enough revenue to cover for the people that stayed.

LOL, he hasn't shut me up in the least. If he brings the goods he can stay, but I seriously doubt he'll do it next year, I can probably run faster than he can. It's funny, he's not even that great of a player but judging by the cult around him you'd think he's the best player in the last decade. All he has to do to keep people happy is score a free kick every once in a while and boom, Ale is King.

I've seen limited people around here, but you're one of a kind. How fast do you run, Victoria?

LOL, please don't tell me you think Del Piero is better than Zidane? Please, please don't go there.
Is Zidane better player than Del Piero? Most probably yes he is.

Del Piero in his prime is not half as good as Zidane?

On a serious note, what Zidane has to do with all this? Is it because you can't keep discussing Del Piero himself and only himself? Or is it because you needed a comparison to prove everything you said towards Ale?

Oh man, please don't tell me you're resorting to that sort of name calling. Love how immature you are. Look at the papers, anonymous game by Del Piero, but one free kick and voila! he's king and should be made an absolute starter and bla, bla, bla.

Well, for one Del Piero doesn't exist in a vacuum and well, I was saying he's not that great of a player, and offered an example of one that I truly hold to be great, just to give you a reference.

And again, Zidane is the better player, don't try to state otherwise or you'll just embarrass yourself.

Look at the whole team. All morals were down. Noone wanted to play. It was Del Piero lifting the spirits in every single game. Thats leadership and thats legendary status. If you read my post carefully you would understand that it takes ALOT OF CHARACTER to bring back Juventus. All the players, including Buffon, Nedved, Trez, Camo, Chiellini..etc said that Del Piero was the main reason. Did you even watch the games man? He was encouraging everyone to stand up and run. He was scoring and defending.

So what determine a good player for you? A forward is supposed to score, well he is. An assistant striker is supposed to create, well he is. A captain is supposed to lead, you can't find a better example. He is a free kick and penalty kick MASTER.

Dude, you lost all your argument when you mentioned that Del Piero has not been influential enough in the past 3 years. If you just limited it to last year you may have an argument, but to come out saying that he wasn't for the past 3 years rises the question if you have been following up Juve games at all.

During these years Del Piero won the Serie A top scorer and his partner in crime Trezeguet finished second with most of his goals assisted by Del Piero. If that is not influential enough then what is? The season after he may not have finished Serie A top scorer, but he was our top scorer and the CL campaign was all him.
And last season he played less that half of it due to injury.

Show me one post, just one post where I said that he should be starter. Me or any of my mates in this thread. Just one post.

If you can't find the post, then don't wonder why it's raining shit on you.

Here's a reality check, you think Del Piero is not a great player, Millions of people see/look at him as one of the greatest Italian and world-wide players. You don't count in this case. You're a tiny drop in the ocean.

If Maradona, Pele, Zidane(a player you look up to), Van Basten, Koeman, Figo, Platini, Raul, Ronaldo, Muller etc let alone coaches have all praised him and consider him as one of the greats then your opinion surely counts as a fart in a dark valley.

Thats why Zidane was in his shadows in the mid to late 90s. Nothing to take of Zidane, he is a fantastic player and one of my favorite of all time. But its a fact that Del Piero did to Juventus much more than Zidane even if you just count the period the two were at the club.

So I got a hand job from Rab... Thats your argument?

You know what sickens me the most.. I can understand Non-Juventini hating Del Piero for all the misery he had shown them throughout the years, from those crazy free kicks to the genius assists to Trezeguet. BUT I cannot tolerate a so called Juventino who does not show the respect and does not show appreciation to Del Piero.

If you love your beloved Juventus, you cannot not be a Del Piero fan. The guy gave his all to the club and he excelled and is producing gold.

You can argue Del Piero starting, you can argue so many things about his game, but to call him finished and even worse to NOT appreciate his work throughout the years especially through the rough times in the past 4 years is pure infidelity to Juventus cause.
