14.06.2010FORZA AZZURRI!

Cari amici,

adesso tocca a voi.

Alessandro

Del Piero wishes Italy good luck

Monday 14 June, 2010

Juventus captain Ale Del Piero has wished Italy good luck ahead of tonight's game against Paraguay and reveals he hoped to be there.

The veteran striker didn't figure in Marcello Lippi's plans despite being a member of the 2006 World Cup winning squad.

Writing on his official website, Del Piero said he would have loved to have been in South Africa.

“Dear friends, now it's up to you,” he wrote. “From today another Azzurri adventure begins. From today, our title as World Champions is put on show again and you are ready to go on the pitch to defend it.

“I am not one of those people who act as if nothing has happened. I have always said that I would have liked to be there with you. But I am also not one of those people who, given I am not on the pitch, will not support my own team-mates.

“So come on lads and good luck for this evening,” he concluded.
