It was bad enough when Nedved retired. Once Del Piero goes it just won't be the same. I really don't see myself ever becoming as attached to any of the future generations of Juve players as I did to Ale, Nedved, Buffon, Trezeguet etc.

who wouldnt? but i really dont have a gripe notice how i said you can argue for and against, it's a learning process and for me we should turn that page a learn from it, and that dependency is one item to be learnt.
We certainly should learn from it, that much I agree with. And we do need to establish a more modern approach to the game, not only our tactics but also the way in which we run the club and use the youth. We could learn so much from our past but Italians seem to be too stubborn with their approach to actually learn anything.

Trust me, you will. I was attached to Zizou and Baggio, but after they left and I sat down to understand what happened, I came around. Pavs became one of my favorites and Alex was still there. It's the club that matters.

When Baggio left, I damn near lost my mind. But I'm still here, and the rest of you are better for it.

nah man, without Ale, it will definitely never be the same.
I'm inclined to agree with Ahmed. I became a Juve fan because of Del Piero, not vice versa.

I felt like that when Aberdeen sold Eoin Jess in the mid nineties.

My concerns were unfounded, though, as Jess returned a couple of years later. :p

Passion for Juve wont budge an inch, but even if Baggio and Zizou were huge favs, they are nothing like what Ale is to me, its a whooooole another ball park. Defenitely will NOT be the same with Juve without him. Doesnt mean one will love Juve less for it, but he is very special.

Ineed. He is my Idol. As a kid I always looked up to him and he is like a hero to me. BUT, I love Juve more than Del piero.
Check out the smile on his face @ 1.24 enjoying the way Napoli fans cheering for Diego

Since I became a fan of juve 6 or 7 years ago I have always seen the faces of Del Piero, Camo, Trez, Buffon, Nedved. Nedved already retired, and in few years all of the above will retire as well, and I have never experienced the coming of a new generation of great players. I personally hope we will see marchisio, and gio take their places, and become the fans favorites.

as for the bold part i must admit, i'm disappointed though it's not like it's not obvious
Well I didn't say anything to please you :D

And it's not like it is the first time I'm admitting that so yea it was obvious.

What if DP retires and becomes an assistant manager, or someone in the front office? Will folks still not be as attached to the club?
Something has already changed in me even though Alex is still playing for us, even at the season he scored the most goals in the league. I mean it doesn't have anything to do with the past couple of unsuccessful seasons or with Ale being a starter or not. I'm just not as caring as before but even now there is always a pleasure for me to get a Juve match which Alex is playing in. When he retires, I'll somehow lose the last thing which attaches me to the past when I was so passionately a Juve fan. Whether Alex remains at the club as an assistant manager (or anything) or not, I'll always like this club and I'll always want them to win as much as possible but Alex' retirement is an end to an era in which I became a Juve fan when I was 12 and when there was no girl in the whole country supporting football teams :p

I think so. It's not about DP the man, it's more about DP the player.
I don't think so. I think it has more to do with Del Piero as a man. You can't stop supporting a club you have supported for many years only because one player leaves. I know we had fans who were actually Zlatan fans, those who left when the Swede left but it happened only because Zlatan didn't stay here enough to become a "part" of this team. It's true that many here are Del Piero fans but do you know what does it mean? Being a Del Piero fan means being a Juve fan for lots of years and this is why I'm sure none of them will stop supporting this club after Alex retires.

If we suck the way we suck this year, then yes. Many will lose interest. Not completely, but they'll lose interest.
And can you blame them? Didn't you catch yourself feeling disgusted while watching Juve and not feeling excited at all before a Juve match? I felt like going to a funeral before some Juve matches.
You or I can blame such fans and call them traitors or whatever we come up with, but after what Juve did to them this season, I will completely understand those fans who will lose interest in watching Juve matches.
We will sure lose many fans because of lacking success, that's a fact. But most of fans will still support the club despite all this. I'm not going to say what is right or wrong here because I personally don't think it is of any value to be a "true fan" but I'm sure that each team keeps the core of its fans even when it's going through a disastrous period in its history.
