Diego 'privileged’ to partner Alex

New Juventus signing Diego insists he and captain Alessandro Del Piero can co-exist in the same team.
The Old Lady have just spent over £20m on the Brazilian talent and he maintains that Del Piero won’t be his rival, but his ally.
“Del Piero and myself together won’t be a problem, but a solution,” he underlined. “I will now have the privilege to play alongside a genius, the genius of Del Piero.” Classy from Diego!!!
But what about the free-kicks, who will get priority? “It’s not important who takes them,” added the 24-year-old. “The key thing is that we are spoilt for choice.”
Although Diego and Del Piero are similar kinds of players, the former Werder Bremen star has admitted that he prefers to play in a deeper position than the veteran Italian.
“My ideal position is central behind the strikers,” he continued. “That is where I have been playing for the last few years.”
The South American, with an Italian passport, had been a massive success in that role for Werder as his 51 goals in 130 games testifies.
After months of courtship between Juventus and himself, a deal was eventually struck towards the end of last season.
“We all dream of playing at the very highest level and I have finally achieved it,” he noted. “Money is certainly important, but not the most important in my career.
“It was vital for me that my relationship with Juventus was an 'old’ one and that’s why when the offer was made I didn’t hesitate.”
With Del Piero owning the No 10 shirt, Diego has explained the reasons why he has opted to take the No 28.
“I was born on that date and the two figures added together make 10 which is my preferred number,” he concluded.
