Rock singers do have range.Freddie Mercury,Robert Plant,Axl Rose,Paul Stanley..all have/had incredible vocal range.Axl for example,is a criminally underated vocalist.People will hate him for his antics, but they'll ignore his vocalist ability.I mean, more than half of GnR songs didnt have Axl singing in his natural heavy voice.Dont Cry is one of the songs where does both brilliantly. Before the solo he's singing in his natural voice, and after the solo you get the signature Axl shrieks.
Coming to Cornell. He isnt that great a vocalist. He is a showman, but on top of everything,he's an incredible songwriter.Anyone who can write Super Unknown is a genius as far as im concerned.
