I think you failed to see the commercial benefits of some players. Del Piero would be far more expensive than Giannichedda for example, because he would offer his new club a lot of commercial options.

Perhaps, but for how long. He's old, injury prone, in the decline of his career, plus he owns most of his own image rights, so his new club wouldnt have very much profit from him.

Can't say I agree with a lot of the prices here. Thuram, Nedved and Del Piero may be approaching the ends of their illustrious careers but we would still get much more than you predict if we were to sell them. IMO Thuram would fetch us about 5m and both Nedved and Del Piero would go for over 10m. I also think that we would get more for Buffon and Mutu.

No way IMO. Thuram is 33 with big wages, no club would pay 5 mil € for a player that could start going downhill any day now.

Nedved and Del Piero over 10 mil €? Not a snowball's chance in hell. Nedved is also injury prone, his form has been going downhill for 2 years now and he's, what, 32, 33?

Same for Del Piero.

Also Buffon. We payed 50 mil € for him, he's almost 4 years older now and the market isnt as strong as when we bought him, rare are the clubs that would spend 25 mil € for a keeper, let alone more.

quite right withthe exception of chelsea the bottom has fallen out of the market big time, the only reason most players go for good money now is if they are wanted by a rival or its chelsea so they aadd a few mill on the end

Thuram, Nedved and Del Piero are all quality players. They may be 30+ years old but they are good footballers and a number of clubs out there would be willing to pay a good set of money for them even if they only have a few years left in the game. They might not be as quick or as fit as their younger counterparts but they bring experience and class to the pitch, valuable assets to football managers worldwide, regardless of age. Thuram, Neddy and DP may not be as good as they once were but they would nevertheless walk into most sides in Europe apart from the top three or four clubs in Italy, England and Spain. If a club with decent financial backing needed a centre back, an attacking midfielder or a forward and Thuram, Nedved or Del Piero were available they would cough up the cash.
