Juve top ‘corrected’ table Tuesday 5 February, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

La Gazzetta dello Sport has created an alternative Serie A table where refereeing errors are corrected and Juventus lead the pack.

As controversy rages over alleged ‘favouritism’ in Inter’s favour and confidence in the officials plummets, a survey was undertaken to see which sides have suffered the most at the hands of the referees.

Research showed that Milan had been treated most harshly and would be sitting in fourth place, were it not for questionable decisions.

Inter were awarded eight points fewer after review and lose their supremacy at the top to Juve, who have benefited six times from errors but been unjustly penalised on nine occasions.

La Gazzetta dello Sport’s Serie A table:
Juventus 48 points
Inter 45
Roma 45
Milan 41
Fiorentina 36
Atalanta 33
Palermo 28
Sampdoria 28
Udinese 28
Napoli 27
Genoa 26
Reggina 25
Lazio 24
Livorno 23
Catania 21
Siena 21
Parma 19
Torino 18
Cagliari 16
Empoli 15

Thats nothing new, we all know Inter wouldn't be leading so far had it been played good by the refs.

But we can't look back, lets win as much as we can and focus more.

True...We shouldn't forget that a CL place is our top priority this season.

What, about Pango?
No i meant the article..

Gazzetta are pro-Milan 100% , they aren't and they've never been pro-Inter. They are the newspaper that relegated Juve, as some like to say but as of late we have some deal with us (sponsorship or something similar) and now you can see the results.

Just look at their standings now. Milan have 8 points more than they have in reality while Juve have 7 points more.

As for these standings, if they are a result of an objective research we can see that Juve are one of the teams that suffered the most from the refs.
But don't take these standings as a fact.
We all watched our team play this season and we all know that referee mistakes aren't the reason why we aren't topping the table.

And the way they make these standings is debatable.
For example, for our match against Napoli they count that the ref gave 2 inexistant penalties to Napoli and they count that match with the result 1:1 and they give us 1 point from that match.
But if the ref didn't give the penalties to Napoli no-one can guarantee that we would have drawn that match. We could have won it and we could have lost it also.

Personally, i don't put too much attention to this Gazzetta research. The only thing i accept from this is the fact that Inter didn't deserve to have as many points as they do and that they would have been much closer to Roma if the refs didn't favour them.
I have to agree here..

Inter wouldnt be so far away from the rest of the league if it werent for referees we all know that..but to say they shouldnt be top of Serie A is a bit far fetched imo..they arent the most pleasing to the eye..but they are at least in my eyes the most efficient team in Europe at the moment.

by the way, I opened the thread before the article was posted in the serieA thread so the person who posted the article (aka Fred) in the serieA thread, didn't look good.

:lol2: That article was probably written by a juventino, but who cares?! :D

We should have a separate trophy and ceremony at the end of the season, called the "Scudetto Pulito", and see who wins. ;)
