We need a Dybala type to start ahead of Higuain and we'll be much sharper. Berna should be in midfield as sub to Ramsey since he's hopeless on the wing. With the possession we had we needed some creativity to break down this stubborn defence where Mandzukic, Higuain and probably Icardi would do little. Felix would be perfect in that role, 120M for him looks like a bargain now.
Higuaín is the least of our problems IMO. I would have no problems with him starting with Ronaldo. I don’t necessarily think that Dybala would be more effective in that role under Sarri. He could be but it’s definitely not guaranteed. Unless we’re playing Ronaldo as CF, I don’t know if there is a better option than him that is feasible at the moment.

There is one thing i dont understand every year. Why do all our friendlies have to be against top teams in Europe? Its really stupid. Especially when we have made so many changes in our team from coach to players. Why cant we have at least 2 games against teams like Levante or Hertha or something like that where we can play an easier game with a bigger chance of scoring goals? Why does it always have to be Real Madrids, Atleticos, Barcelonas ect.....
Because they are more useful to find out where you are? ESPECIALLY if you made many chances. Friendlies against minnows are of no use.

For the love of God he cant be our starter. Seeing him up close and personal, you realize even more how slow and poor every decision he makes is. Sat right behind Atletico goals 2nd half and he ruined almost all attacks.

I mean the answer is pretty straight forward. We’re paying 250M in wages and need to fund them. Swedish fans or fans in Korea aren’t going to pay big bucks to see Juve versus levante

Always had my doubts about him. Hoped he'd improve but don't see any so far.

I am glad that some of you can find some kind of solace in our dreadful appearance.
I am looking forward to tell us what you admired that much.
I saw a team that fails to Man marking, zone marking, offside trap.
A toothless midfield, easily dominated and outpaced at will, carved from the flanks, even straight through.
I have yet to see our midfield link with our forwards and this is the reason i kept and keep asking for an AMF is our primary target/need, hopefully Ramsey will magically solve all that and never ever miss a match.
I haven't seen those vertical passes and blazing one-twos i ve seen us trying vs Inter and k-stars, so thats why i felt we were worse than our very first Sarri games.
Cr7 shown no interest whatsoever, not even to compete with the boy that is considered his heir, we have no team, yet no individual effort too.
We were completely toothless out there and the goals Khedira scored was completely random in my opinion and nothing to be excited about.
Please do convince me of our sparks of brilliance!!
I think you watch another game. Maybe West Ham vs Man City.

Your review of the match are exaggerated because of we lose 2-1 in pre season game, can't imagine what your post if we are thrased like RM.

From what I see we are dominated the game while still lacking in stamina against Atletico. We have serious attempts, some of them hit the post (deflection in 1st half, Rabiot shoot in 2nd half)

Our passing game is improve and our attack have more option in passing to expose the opponent. Our current issue is to convert this flowing pass in to clear chance to score, but the intensity are already there.

Rabiot is great, still waiting to see Ramsey
Douglas costa showing more of dribling and some nice tricks, which not really shown under Allegri.CR7 not showed today, but in his day and different motivation it will be another story. Joao Felix are another level player, hence his transfer value > CR7. Dybala play ok, get some chances but still look unhappy and not fully sharp

With this kind of play I am really disappointed we sold Moise Kean, I think he can be our deadlock breaker even coming from bench

Another disaster that the coach must anticipating are possibility of De Ligt flopping. I think he has to much burden in mind about Italian defending style that hinder him to play his best ability like what he doing with Ajax

Don’t think MDL will flop but our CBs need to communicate better
The problem is not technically, but more mentally.

But he is the captain of Ajax so he just need to be his best self. Maybe we will see more from real match (serie a and ucl)

2nd goal from Atletico is basically a perfect pass and perfect finish. Still MDL and MDS could have done better. The first goal is lack of effort from MDS.

I expected to get raped on the counters but we didn't give away as much possession as I thought we would. Can't really remember a dangerous counter actually. We seemed to reduce that space between our midfield and defence and didn't allow many balls into that territory, which is a big plus considering that was a huge weakness in the first matches.

As far as possession goes, we put more balls between their lines than we did last year, so that was a positive as well. Lots of shots, few goals. Rabiot was unlucky.

Still hard to completely judge as Atletico was in their favourite position, leading the match, so we didn't get their full press.

Rabiot playing Matuidi's position for the first time (I think?). He covered a lot of ground and showed up in attack so the position might be his. As for RW, Costa is ahead of Berna clearly. For RB, MDS is unplayable to me, pick anyone else.

Also Sarri put Dybala at CF and Mario at LW or whatever Ronaldo's position is supposed to be. The next step is to see Ronaldo-Dybala-Costa. I don't think Higuain was that bad today, but largely anonymous. But the way we play in the final 3rd, I'm not sure how his "size advantage" on Dybala really matters. Not a single ball in the air towards him.

For starters, thank you for taking the time to write about ur view of the game.
I believe a few of us saw it today and many will be curious to read about it.
I am sharing my views for them mostly, to to challenge you, or anyone else.
Also keep in mind one thing, this is not the first game we are dominated, concede first and then push for the equalizer. This is not the first match we fail to concede less than two goals.
Practically we have been doing this for months.
There are plenty of reasons for that sure, but what matters is what happens after Sarri.
So a special consideration of our least three matches and esp this one that happens just two weeks before our season starts and most of our preparions are nearly competed.
We faced teams that also face a great adversary and also have many changes in new faces, Inter also changed a coach and k-stars are not even a team.
They also have a reduced interest to win a random friendly.
So noone expects us to win them all.
Problem that we never shown anything good, that was the only thing that was consistent.
Our failure and it is more worrying that it happens in the same fashion ever since the Ajax days.
We have yet to recover it.
The players lost their faith on Allegri and wanted him out, so they quit trying and kept losing. Maybe we're proud some time to hunt the equalizer.
We ought to leave that behind by now and just try to show smth good, just for ONCE!!!
No matter the adversary, his system, his fitness level, his quality, we always sucked!
This is not irrelevant.
As this was a friendly and Atletico are not a possession team like Barca. They always go straight for the jugular and trust their defending of the lead. So normally they only try when they want to get that lead. As it's only a friendly, that don't need a safe score.
In the first minutes we have failed to reach their box, yet they have tried a few shots, untill one of them delivered.
The we ought to step up, but again failed to push them as a team. The way Khedira scored was completely random as he received the ball by a deflection and shot a hapless shot with the back of the net outside of their box, mostly because he had no better options and n luckily it went in.
So then Atletico had to try to score another one and they did immediately without sweating that much.
They had no incentive to try harder.
The players that started were new/young and were a far cry from the team they were last year, maybe even more than the players we chose to start.
When the pros got in, the easily dominated and erased us in second half.
This pressure ought to give the better of us.
The two weeks after the Korean rape, should have given us the time to show a massive improvement as the first two games came in the very first days Sarri took over.
Yet our passing was slower than ever.
In our first two games, Sarri tried to impose his trademark fast paced one - two possession by passing game. I particularly enjoyed the fact that we showed some such spark VS the Koreans.
But today we had none of that.
We were weak and slow and our passing game was more accurate because we were always losing with our back on the wall and minimum risks. Low pace means more possession but less chances to surprise the enemy upfront.
IMO upfront today we were more hopeless than ever!
And not just my opinion, our gameplay created no goals.
In the last 20mins, Someone decided to defend the lead and allowed us to push ahead, maybe because he realized that we are toothless anyway and he was right...

In two weeks time the season starts, in two weeks time, we showed no improvement, i for one was expecting more today.
Either result or soul, i am primarily concerned because i ve seen no soul...

I liked what I saw tbh. The play is still too slow and movement as well as positioning is not yet what it should be but it's a gradual process, that will come for sure.
Defensive phase is still to be adjusted as we had too big gaps between formations at times. I could see improvement over previous games though.

MDL and MDS naive on both goals, shit happens.

IMO: Can > Kedira > Matuidi. Actually Khedira surprised me a lot, seems like he understands what Sarri wants. It's a pity he doesn't have the legs and dynamism for that kind of game anymore but as a sub he could be useful for one more year.

Rabiot and Costa were very good

When it was 0-0 and Madrid was actually pressing higher and marking Pjanic, it was nice that Khedira was also showing for the ball near Pjanic in smart areas. I think he's more useful than Matuidi as well.

Inter and K-league all stars are top teams of Europe?
Inter yes, K-league no. However, when it comes to inter, even if they are not a top team, they are our most hated rivals, tension is always going to be high rrgardless if it is a friendly, and we should always avoid playing them in friendlies in pre-season.

So let me put it this way, Stockholm is not that far away from where I live, a bit more than an hour drive. So I took the car as it was more convenient as there is a lot of work on the railroads. I can't stand driving in Stockholm and it gets worse when there is a big event, lots of people and traffic. The stadium is situated next to a huge shopping center so I decided to park my car in the shopping center parking lot, an idea that thousands others had. In the end I found an empty lot. Went to grab something to eat (thousands thought the same) and waited 45 minutes to get a burrito. It was good and we wanted to kill some time. Went to the stadium, the entry was smooth, long queue but it went fast, we had nice seats, our neighbors looked friendly. The wait went fast and the match started, my kid was very happy, his first live experience. I was starting to get irritated, the atmosphere was dull, when I scream people look at me with a strange look. Clap, the same. You could hear a needle if you drop one.

Let's talk football or better yet Sarriball, so what is it really? We are still the same toothless clueless team in attack, we have more possession but the midfield gets easily out muscled and overrun. The defense has changed, we defend higher and take more risks and invite for more. When things get crucial we are clueless and we leak. Like really leak. WOW, did we get a lot of corners? Nice, what for?

It took us more than two hours to leave the place, not to get to the car, that took only 45 minutes (queue to go in, queue to the elevator, queue to pay the parking ticket) No the two hours were to be able to leave the parking place.

So let me sum it , frustrating drive, a huge crowd, bad football, lame defending, useless attack, frustrated Ronaldo, same problems as with Allegri, much worse defense and all this to see Khedira score our only goal :lol2:

I see the delusion is huge though, the club has succeeded in what they want, to deceive a large chunk of the fans that we play better football, that there is a glimpse of hope. The club succeeded in stacking up a huge amount of clueless fans, the majority I saw were mostly interested in CR7 and DeLigt but not Juventus. But still the goals that fans demand are not even considered.

That was a glimpse of the season because come May/June, we will be empty handed and watching Inter and Napoli fight for the title. The CL? :lol2:
If we are lucky, we exit the group and take a shot at the EL and Coppa because other than these we are not made to be there.

Matuidi and De Sciglio can't be starting important games this season. Both are really not good enough.

Have a feeling Rabiot is going to be a favorite until he falls out with management or is sold on to Barcelona. Costa was very good.

still like Mandzukic but if its true the club need to let go of six players he is certainly one of the six.

I am not worried by the performance itself, pre season never matters and still doesn't, but i just don't rate Sarri

After ATM vs RM everyone was writing about how big it was gonna be our humilliation against them and at the end their first goal was 100% on MDS and 2nd it was a brilliant move from Joao plus a poor comunication between MDS and MDL

We scored once and could have done at least one more so I don't get this soap opera somes wanna create out of nothing
