Juve aim for Afellay Saturday 8 November, 2008

Juventus may be flying high, but they are already looking to the transfer window with a list of targets including Dutchman Ibrahim Afellay.
The injury crisis may well be over by the time January comes around, but the club is taking no chances after flying through to the knockout stage of the Champions League.
Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport insists the main target now is Dutch international Afellay, who shone at Euro 2008.
PSV Eindhoven are in crisis at the moment and are in a likely position to sell their left-footed attacking winger who can also play as a trequartista.
“I cannot assure I will remain in Eindhoven until the end of the season. Anything can happen in football. Situations change from day to day,” confessed Afellay.
He would be cup-tied, but give Pavel Nedved the opportunity to rest in Serie A and prepare for the Champions League matches.
“It is not true that Ibrahim’s contract has a rescission clause. Those who are interested can sit around the negotiation table,” added his agent.
Another name bandied about regularly for the Bianconeri is Diego, but Werder Bremen do not seem eager to sell the Argentine even for the £15m price-tag.
That cash would be raised by selling flop Tiago Mendes, who is still of interest to Atletico Madrid.
Juve’s plans don’t end there, as other targets named by the media in Italy include Bastian Schweinsteiger of Bayern Munich, Yaya Toure and Xavi from Barcelona.
The hunt is also on to strengthen the defence and, although they still have co-ownership rights on Genoa’s Domenico Criscito, Juventus seem more interested in poaching 19-year-old Dane Simon Kjaer off Palermo.
