The past few days have seen strong reports that Juventus will sell Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but his agent insists the Swede wants to stay.
“If we sit around the table with Juve, it’s to reach an agreement. We certainly are not going towards a divorce,” said Mino Raiola.
The former Ajax striker had a spectacular debut campaign, but this season he has scored just six Serie A goals and three in the Champions League.
Although the club has imposed a Press Silence, there are rumours that Coach Fabio Capello’s relationship with Ibrahimovic has been strained of late and he could be dropped for Sunday’s match with Siena.
His contract expires in two seasons and his requests for a large wage increase have so far caused tensions within the Bianconeri outfit.
“I have an excellent rapport with Juventus,” maintained Raiola on Radio Radio this afternoon. “At the right time, we will meet to discuss this aspect of the deal.”
It’s reported that Ibrahimovic wants around £4m per season, a figure that the Turin giants have no intention of accepting.
“Without wanting to make a hierarchy, Zlatan is on a par with Adriano and Thierry Henry. He hasn’t received many requests from other clubs because few can afford such a great player,” added the agent.
If Juventus were to part company with Ibrahimovic, the sides most likely to be interested are Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea.
