i need help with ripping dvd's (1 Viewer)

i need to know how i could put movies i download on to a dvd? the problem is when i use nero and the movie i downloaded has an "avi" ext it does'nt end up working on the dvd player!!! is there any kind of software or convertor i need to use to solve this?? thanks in advance its much appreciated. :pint:

:google: DVD burning. You'll just get people here cutting and pasting what you'll find otherwise.

You're going to need to convert the avi.

    Not necessarily. It depends on what type of DVD software your're using...
    i tried nero and i still ended up with the same problem. thanks for the help thou bro

    Try using THIS . I haven't used it myself, but I did about 30 seconds of research and that's what I found.

    If you're using Nero, there should be a project type named "Burn DVD Video" or something like that. When you're burning the resulting files, make sure you use that project name. If you simply create the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS directories manually, there's a chance your DVD player will choke and not know how to play the DVD.

    Graham is right. I don't have Nero, but I would be shocked if you're just not finding how to burn a DVD format from an AVI with it yet.

    thank u sooooooo much gray, i really appreciate this. i will try the link u gave me now.

    as for nero the probelm is it for some reason puts the movie on the dvd but it doesnt work on the dvd cos it fails to covert the movie which is avi ext to a format played ont he dvd. i will give this softwar a try and see how it ends up. hopefully it works. thanks once again :pint:
