I don't disagree with that, but I wouldn't call it more creative than other decades. I just didn't find interesting the directions a lot went in, i.e. pop rock, jam bands, women with hairy armpits singing about cowboys. It's strange, it's pretty much the only decade that I skip over because I just don't find any of it accessible to me. But I appreciate that many others liked that stuff :)
Unfortunately, I can't contribute much to a debate about the decades
Hey look, Nirvana is #1. I actually love that nonsense song.

I have this horrible image of being in a nursing home one day with other folks of my generation and having someone put on that Calvin Harris song. Kind of depressing.

That goes with names, tattoos, etc. as well. Everything will be considered different in 50 years.

Grandpa Klinsmann sounds hilarious.

It is strange to think that one day the things we liked will honestly be considered old people music, and the fact that we'll be sitting around with our canes listening to the Beastie Boys will be lame.

Edit: And every single thing in that post above (apart from 80s Crowded House) I really dislike. I do listen to a LOT, and listened to it all back then. I really don't like it, sorry.
