Im not trying to bait anyone, but I really didn't like Aus when I was there and everyone raves about the place - I don't get the fascination. NZ was a much much much more enjoyable culture to be in and there was a lot more to do. Sydney has to be the most boring city on earth and I live in cardiff...

I remember the day I left for travelling one of my close friends who is really anti racism, pro people etc. like me, he came up to me and said "You're going to aus right? The people there are thick as shit...trust me"

He was right.

I haven't been to Sydney, but I find Melbourne quite lovely having lived there for four years as an Asian Australia's pretty interesting, Perth to me was boring, Tasmania beautiful, and did a road trip from Darwin-Alice Springs for a week in a caravan and that really was quite something to see the vastness of it. The great barrier reef was just OK but it was a short diving lesson trip. Went to the south Island in NZ for a week or so, although obviously some landscape is quite similar, I think these two offer quite different things in terms of nature. To live though South Island was boring as !
