I know a couple of you have already commented on this but it really irritated me!

A true DP fan, would always love Del Piero - Not necessarily a true Juve fan. I am a true Juve fan and am to be quite honest getting sick and tired of DP - if he wasn't integral to Juve's marketing policy then I'm sure he would have gone a while ago.

I think Juve's purchase of Buffon was motivated partly by the fact that Buffon will probably be the next Dino Zoff (in terms of being an Italy number 1 for years etc) and will be an Italian icon - because everybody knows he is the best (apart from Desmond). This means:-

Juve are realising they have to change their merchandising and marketing policy away from such a focus on DP because everyone is finally beginning to realise his performances don't merit such a focus. Players like Buffon will take more emphasis from Juve marketing and rightly so.

Juve for the last 10 years has always pretty much had either the best player in the world on their books - or one of the best. Baggio, the up and coming DP, Zidane, Nedved.....if they do get rid of Nedved, or Nedved continues to fall from grace, I wouldn't be suprised to see Juve sign a Van der Vaart or someone like that - they realise the importance of Juve icons and the need to have the best of the best (not saying VDV is that but potentially who knows?).

Sorry for that long and windy thread, I got a bit carried away!

Del piero is not just a symbol for the Old Lady.... at this moment ur all talking about del piero , because this player has been always Injured , He's not Lucky Guys... P.s i Just want you to remmber this , if dp would stay 6months minimum without any injury ur all gonna regret the way u where talking about him , plus the way u compare him to this henry or to others... He served Juve more then others i guess , He loves Juve more then any1 else ... he always say this when he's injured " i want to come back to help my team " u know how much it hurts for him , he knows he can serve the club and can lead them , but this Injuries always kept him away.... JUST REMMBER WHO'S DEL PIERO ...... Juve= Dp ...Dp=Juve..........

Non-True Juve Fan= Someone who doesn't love Del Piero

Juve Fans who have supported the team before there was such a thing as Alex del Piero=



What this shows, more than anything, is that a lot of fans, especially younger ones, are fans of the team because of a player, not the team itself. So, while there's really nothing wrong with that, the question is, when Del Piero, nedved, et al.....are all gone, will you be gone as well??

As a juve player, DP is not different from Nedved, Montero, Buffon, Di vaio, etc. He should be criticized like others were, if he performs poorly.
So…those who claim that you r a true juve fan, stop treating him like he is God.

But as one of the club’s legends who has contributed a lot for juve for a decade, DP should not be mentioned or referred to with an insult or be treated like a rubbish
So….. those who claim that you r a true juve fan, treat him with more respect.

yes i agree with u freez ... its also bugging me when people start to underestimate del piero because of his poor performance lately .... but we should keep in mind that with no doubt he is the spirit of the team .... and without him Juve is like a ship without a captain ....

I'm so sick and tired of seeing this expression, it's a load of tripe. Juve have succeeded without Del Piero and will continue to do so long after he's gone. I agree, he's our captain and our icon, but I can't stand it when people act as if he's bigger than the club. Sure, if he had as much of an influence on the football pitch as Henry does, maybe I'd agree with people who say that we're nothing without him, but right now that couldn't be further from the truth

am Juve Fan Before Dp starts with Juve or Before i see him wearing the Black N White , i guess since i was 6 i started watching Juve...all my family supports juve....
so my point is now.... am juve fan more then dp fan ... and i don't want any1 to get it me wrong Graham when i said juve=dp and dp=juve , to me it is like this , but maybe to others i don't know ... anyhow still too many of you wont know his value , in the end when dp is gonna retire from there , i will always b black n white , i know many great players passed before dp on juve , like : platini , baggio , vialli and etc ... but Dp still sth , ammm how can i say hmmmm i mean like a symbol to us... when people hear Dp'Name is like they r talking about juventus , or when any1 is talking about dp is like he is talking about juve.... watever am all the way Black N White..... I don't think he was the best player in the past. Not at all. Zidane, Baggio, Platini were all better.

First of all thx guys for ur warm welcomes , i was surprised by the number of the replies . I will try to make my point more clear, I know it' a JUVE forum and everyone here has the right to express his opinions whether other people like it or not cause at the end it is a FORUM. But what really made me angry is the way these opinions were expressed, especially the 'DP VS Chimmenti' thread when i read it i was about loosing ma mind, i couldn't even imagine how DP may be treated in this way in JUVE FORUM!!!!. Ofcourse Juve is the periority & no player is Bigger than Juve, and ofcourse i am a juve fan before being a DP fan. I know DP's wasn't that good this years but it's all about the fVcken injury (remember his form last year) i think he was one of the main reasons we kept our scudetto. There is no problem to critisize a player , no problem at all, but to make ur the Captain and the icon of juve a joke (DP VS Chimmenti:fero is unbareble, do u think if totti had a row of bad matches or even bad seasons will be treated in this humouras way?? i doubt cause he has done enough for Roma to make him untouchable (especially in this way). BTW i began supporting juve when DP was injured and my favourite player was Inzaghi but DP is a part of Juve history, present and future (i hope so).
