Lupe can't spell Common. As for all you who say hip-hop is in decline, quit listening to 5 dimes, Lil' Dreaded Drunk Bitch and the Eastside Hoes, Souljgrils and all those other corny sounding mother fuckers.

In my opinion, Lupe is better than Common and certainly better than Kanye. It's also my opinion that the best rappers out right now (who have released albums or will release an album plus or minus about a year) are Nas, Cormega, Lupe Fiasco and Pharoahe Monch. Only them can come close to the lyrical genius found in the 90's, and of course Nas' best albums were found before the turn of the century.

If people want to hear the good Lupe Fiasco tracks, look up American Terrorist, Hurt Me Soul, Coming From Where I'm From, The Commercial, and Dumb It Down. A lot of his stuff is difficult to understand and makes you think.

Nas is coming out with his next album "Nigger" in February... can't wait to hear the stuff.

Nas owns.

Cormega is the realest emcee in the 21st Century.

Andy, I know what you're talking bout, Lupe is lyrically insane some of the stuff of The Cool is really dope.

Check this Lupe Fiasco- Little Weapon:

Now here comes the march of the boy brigade
A McCar parade of the toys he made
And in shimmer shades who looks half his age
About half the size of the flags they waved
And camouflage suits made to fit youths
Cuz the ones off dead soldier fits a little loose
With AK-47 that they shooting into heaven
Like they trying to kill the Jetsons
    they struggle little recruits
    Cute, smileless, heartless, violent
Childhood destroyed, avoided of all childish ways
    Can’t write their own names
Or read the words on their own graves
Think you gangsta popped a few rounds
These kids will come through and murder a whole town
And sit back and smoke and watch it burn down
The grave gets deeper the further we go down

What do you think of Lil Wayne's new track?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvVxKqbhGN0
    Reggae at the beginning:eyebrows:
Yeah!! I know, I'm callin this man in like a year or two after Tha Carter III, which potentially makes or brakes Dwaynes carrer, he's going to turn to reggae, I have a feeling. Also check from Birdman's: 5*Stunna the song Make Way f/ Lil' Wayne, he goes reggae :)

The First Annual UHTL Awards of 2007

Biggest Album Disappointment 2007- “The Carter 3 for
not coming out.. I'm sick of people saying he's the greatest rapper alive, but yet he can't release an album?!?!?”- Nahjee Maybin

Runner Up- Fabolous: From Nothing To Something- “Fab's discography up until this disc was pretty impressive. most of Fab's verse's are uninspired and flat. There are so many shippable tracks it could have been released as a single with bonus tracks. The best songs on the album are the more "lighthearted" club friendly tracks - and for a lyricist of Fabolous' stature thats embarrassing. Make Me Better, Baby Dont Go and Jokes On You are great. Brooklynwould have been great except for the last verse from Uncle Murda and a half-hearted verse from Jigga. Low point has to be Youre da Man with what must be the most irritating hook of the year. Overall not the WORST album of 2007, but definitely the most disappointing.”

    –Neil Green, Durban, South Africa

Best Mixtape- Kanye West's Can't Tell Me Nothing “Nothing but extremely Good Music, Us Placers was hip hop at its finest”

    - Rakeem Johnson

Runner Up- Joe Budden’s Mood Muzik III- “What mixtape do you know that actually was considered a contender for one of the top 5 albums of 2007?? Yea, I thought so!”

    – LowKey from YouHeardThatNew.Com

Best Video That Had Nothing To Do With The Song Award- Sexual Seduction - Snoop Dogg “What a fuckin' acid trip that was, and look at that nigga wit the keyboard guitar, drugs have given us a wonderful gift, that is snoop D-O-Double G”
    - Brandon Miller from Howard University

Runner Up- Neyo- Go On Girl- “There were plenty of videos that had nothing to do with the track, but the absolute BEST one (and no, I'm not just stealing your choice) that I've seen this year is Go On Girl. I liked the way the video came out and the song's nice as well. But next time Mr. Hype Williams, MAKE SURE YOUR VIDEO GOES WELL WITH THE SONG, I'M TIRED OF UNRELATING VIDEOS.”
    - Matt McCoy (DJ Double M)

Best Producer- Timbo The King (Timbaland) “He had 2 many hits in all kinds of music.”

    -Hovain Hylton

Runner Up- Kanye West- “If you've heard Flashing Lights, Stronger, Don't Forget 'Em, Hook It Up, the Arms Race remix, Drivin' Me Wild, Can't Tell Me Nothin, The People, In The Mood, etc., then you should know exactly why”
    - DJ Double M.

Best Publication- XXL Magazine “I actually SUBSCRIBE to this magazine and there’s no other magazine that I really care for.”
    - Kyla Thomas

Runner Up- Esquire Magazine- “Stop reading those silly rap publications”
    - Tom McLeod CEO Of Heavy Syndication.

    Best Hip Hop Website- XXL
"Informative posts, extremely entertaining blogs and new music being posted. If you haven’t bookmarked XXL’s website, you’re a loser"
    - Scott “Knowledge” Barnes, General Manger of The YouHeardThatNew Entertainment Group

    Runner Up- www.allhiphop.com
Besides hip-hops most (arguably) famous gossip-monger churning our rumours, the site has a great layout, is as "current" as u could ask for AND seems to be for the most part impartial in the dealings with rappers, minimal favouritism. The leechers must hate this site tho....”

    – Neil Green, Durban, South Africa.

Best DJ- DJ Drama- Despite the Fed’s taking pictures; Drama and his Aphilliates clawed and scratched their way back into mixtape relevancy. It was then we knew, Mr. Thanksgiving was here for the long haul. It also helped that his freshmen Lp, Gangsta Grillz: The Album, possessed one of the greatest songs of the year (The Art Of Story Telling Pt.4), as well as one of the best verses of the year. (Andre 3000’s verse from The Art Of Story Telling Pt.4). I believe I leaked that record, dah who’s keeping track…lol”
    - LowKey from UHTN.Com

Best Blog- http://ffffound.com/- “I’m sorry, but some of these pictures are unrealistic. I mean did you REALLY think I was going to pick UHTN for Best Blog?? The combination of hate I would’ve received for that nod would’ve been unparallel to any type of hate I’ve seen since I started this site. Lol”
    - Write up by LowKey, but discovered and nominated by Tom McLeod of Heavy Syndication

Runner Up- NahRight.Com- “In all honesty, Eskay kept me on my toes night and day, opened my eyes to some new material, and was the first site to give me props and link my site on one of his posts for his readers to view”.
    - LowKey from UHTN.Com.

Incredibly Idiotic Award Of 2007- “George Bush for lifetime achievement in this category but…Mike Vick…I mean obviously”.

-Tom McLeod, CEO of Heavy Syndication Records

Runner Up-Foxy Brown- Assaulting numerous chicks with her Blackberry, getting locked up, lying about her pregnancy and refusing to get on the Rikers bus because her hair & makeup weren’t done. Take your pick.”

    – Scott “Knowledge” Barnes, General Manger of The YouHeardThatNew Entertainment Group.

Best Songwriter- The Dream. Who? yeah, exactly. Umbrella and Bed were just huge... Where the hell did he come from? And whatsup with the "Eh's"?
    - [email protected]

Runner Up- Sean “The Pen” Garrett- "He’s on fire! © NBA Jam"
    - Scott “Knowledge” Barnes, General Mangager of The YouHeardThatNew Entertainment Group.

The We Still Love You, But PLEASE Sit Your Simple Ass Down Award- Lil Wayne- Him and that damn styrofoam cup, I’m mad at that! And when he does interviews he’s always using metaphors just like his songs.”
    - Kyla Thomas

Runner Up: DJ Khaled- “Mr. WE THE BEST! WHO? WE NIGGA! IM ABOUT UNITY! Please sit your simple ass down”

    – Erich Donaldson (Sermon)

Best Remix- I’m So Hood Remix- "That’s just straight gangsta music right there son.”
    - Josef Nega

Runner Up- I Get Money Remix- "Despite the lyrics being wack, the line up was SICK"
    - [email protected].

Best T-Pain Featured Song- Kanye West ft. T-pain- Good Life- “Good Life. Sick beat, sick sample, sick hook. It was just a sick song. Plus, doesn't it just make you so happy...” –[email protected].

The Kill Yourself (not in the literal sense) Award- Raz B “Just because he let’s people call him Raz-B. Also, reading a manuscript of an apology to Chris Stokes in a parking lot of a Bank lets us further know Mr. Stokes still owns you.”
    - Morison Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio

Runner Up- Dehaven- “No one even cared about him, nor knew who he was. What was he even mad about….I didn’t even watch the whole interview. I mean…..”
    -Neil Green, Duban, South Africa

Best Hip-Hop Album- Lupe Fiasco's The Cool “This album lived up to its high expectations and was a banger from front to back. Lupe breezes through the album touching on issues plaguing the world (child soldiers, rape, health) and still finds time to depict the story of The Cool.”
    - Rakeem Johnson

Runner Up “Ah, between American Gangster & Graduation
“Those two albums were so sick. Kanye puts so much perfection in his music, and Jay-Z brought a modern Reasonable Doubt to the table. If The Cool came out earlier in the year, it would be up there, Its sick, but needs more time to "marinate" with me”.
    - Nahjee Maybin.

Best R&B Album- Alicia Keys – As I Am
The songs on here are beautifully written and the sound is awesome. It gives you the feeling of cleaning up on Saturday morning/afternoon with your Mom while the record player is jamming (if you’re old enough to remember that).”

-Scott “Knowledge” Barnes, General Mangager of The YouHeardThatNew Entertainment Group

Runner Up- Jaheim - The Makings Of A Man
4 albums later, this dude hasn't stopped making PURE R&B music. This is R&B that I can ACTUALLY feel, not like the so-so connections with any typical Chris Brown song, but that really deep shit.”
    - DJ Double M

Best Non Hip-Hop/R&B Album - rock, alternative, pop, electronica, etc.- “The Hives: The Black and White Lp, "The lead singer has incredible swagger, which is more cocky than most rappers..”
    - Josef Nega from London, UK

Runner Up: Lily Allen - Alright, Still
Some people might argue with me, but I find this to be more blues-like than R&B, that's why I put the album under here. If you haven't heard this album, do so now. She's creative with her music, with a nice voice, commitment...doesn't hurt that she's cute as a button as well.”
    - DJ Double M.

Best Underground Artist- The Cool Kidz; “They brought the 80’s back in a cool and fun way. Instead of just dressing the part like the rest of these clowns, they provided quality music as well”
    - LowKey from UHTN.Com

Best Verse (TIE)- Andre 3000 on The Art of Storytelling Part 4 “Andre 3 Stacks dismantles this track and touches on hip hop's obsession with sleeping with other guy's girls and making it rain in the strip club.”
    - Rakeem Johnson
    &

    Lupe Fiasco- Little Weapon
Now here comes the march of the boy brigade

The grave gets deeper the further we go down
-“Real relevant words”- Matt McCoy (DJ Double M) Enfield, Connecticut.

Best Compilation/Soundtrack (hip-hop AND non hip-hop considered)- Hi-Tek - Hi-Teknology 3: “Hi-Tek is perhaps THE most underrated, underappreciated, and underviewed dude in the hip-hop business...that needs to be changed. He works with some of the realest rappers out now, makes some of the realest beats of all time, and has made 3 compilations with highly consistent lyrical...sounds perfect to me”.
    - Matt McCoy (DJ Double M)- Enfield, Connecticut.

Best Beat (THE beat of 07)-
DJ Toomp/Kayne West - Big Brother
    “Stadium status”
    - Scott “Knowledge” Barnes, General Mangager of The YouHeardThatNew Entertainment Group
Runner Up- Sean C & LV- Roc Boys- “ Because of the instruments. I’ve always been a fan of live band sounds….the combo is CRAZY”
    - Stephen Robinson, On Air Personality @ WHUR.Com in Washington, DC

Best Album Production (meaning from beginning to end, how consistent were the beats)- Kanye West: Graduation- “Graduation is a musical masterpiece from beginning to end, shit need I say more…just listen to it”
    - Josef Nega, UK, London.

Best Lyrical Album- Lupe Fiasco – The Cool
He’s once again made an album that you’re going to need to listen to over and over and over before you even decipher half of what he’s saying.” ).”

Scott “Knowledge” Barnes, General Mangager of The YouHeardThatNew Entertainment Group.

Most anticipated in '08- Nas' Nigger “Who isn't anticipating what Nas has to say with a title like this?, Child Rebel Soldier's album; Us Placers was one of the hottest songs of 2007 and a taste of what's to come and Lupe Fiasco's LupEnd The final studio album of Lupe Fiasco. What more is needed to be said.”
    - Rakeem Johnson
“I myself can't wait til the Carter 3 gets pushed back til 09... Weezy should just put down the drugs for a week and just finish this fucking project”- Kyle Elie

can some explain these lyrics for lupe fiasco's "The Cool"?

    "The Cool"
    [Talking]

    Yeah...

    Yeah...

    the cool.

    Turn me up
    uh-huh..
    yeah..

    He came back
In the same suit that he was buried in
Similar to the one his grand father was married in
Yes... he was still fresh to death
bling, two ear-rings, a chain laying on his chest
He still had it cuz they couldn't find it
And the bullets from his enemies sat like two inches behind it
smelled the Hennesy from when his niggas got reminded
and poured out liquor in his memory, he didn't mind it, But...
He couldn't sip it fast enough
So the liquor was just filling the casket up
floating down by his feet was the letter from his sister
Second Grade hand-writing simply read "I miss ya"
Suit jacket pocket held his baby daughter's picture
Right next to it one of his man's stuck a swisher
He had a notion as he laid there soaking
Saw that the latch was broken, he kicked his casket open
    and he...

    [Chorus]

This life goes passing you by
It might go fast if you lie
You go and you live then you die...

    O-oh-oh-ohh

If life goes passing you by
    Don't cry
    If you breaking the rules
    Making your moves
    Paying your dues...
    Chasing the cool

Not at all nervous as he dug to the surface
Tarnished gold chain is what he loosened up the earth with
He used his mouth as a shovel to try and hollow it
and when he couldn't dirt spit... swollowed it
Working like a.. hmm.. reverse archaeologist
Except.. his buried treasure was sunshine
So when some shined through a hole that he had drove
it reflected off the gold and almost made son blind
He grabbed on to some grass, he climbed
Pulled himself up out of his own grave and looked at the time
On the watch that had stopped six months after the shots
That had got him in the box wringing Henny out his socks
Figured it was hours because he wasn't older
Used some flowers to brush the dirt up off his shoulders - so..
With a right hand that was all bones and no reason to stay
    Decided to walk home
    so he..

    [Chorus]

He begged for some change to get him on a train
"Damn that nigga stank", is what they complained
Tried to light the blunt but it burst into flames
Caught the reflection in the window of what he became
    A long look... Wasn't shook, wasn't ashamed
Matter fact only thing on his brain was brains.. yeah
And getting back in his lane, doing his thang
First he had to find something to slang
    Next stop was his block
    It had the same cops
Walked right past the same spot where he was shot
Shocked that some lil' niggas tried to sell him rocks
It just felt weird being on the opposite
They figured that he wasn't from there
so they pulled out and robbed him
with the same gun they shot him with
Put it to his head and said "You scared ain't ya?"
He said: "Hustler for death. No heaven for a gangsta."

    [Chorus]
